Hmm, I'm not quite sure how this works. Maybe it's just a matter of having the resolution needed to do an anamorphic DVD and you don't need an anamorphic lens at all for the scan.

We were told that's why the 2006 Star Wars unaltered trilogy DVD set would not be anamorphically enhanced, because it was being taken from a source (the laserdisk master) that hadn't had an anamorphic transfer from the film print in the first place. But maybe that's not the same thing as what we are talking about here.

Perhaps one of the film transfer specialists here can help explain this. :)

From what Puggo is saying, the vertical resolution will be full, which, if I recall correctly, is the most important thing. So that's great news. :) And the aspect ratio can then be adjusted so that's it's correct, no vertical stretching and so on. :)
