hmmm. how many "quality pixels" are in 16mm footage?

http://www.cinematechnic.com/super_16mm/resolution_of_super_16mm.html

This link says it's at least as good as 1080p uncompressed, or if not that, at least way better than standard NTSC resolution. The buyer does tell you it's a bit washed out, but a quick run through the levels function in avisynth or virtualdub could fix that quickly. That coupled with a number of other free-ware filters for motion stabilization and yadda yadda yadda, and we could probably end up with an OK looking transfer, for possible applications in DE-SEing projects if the shots could be cleaned up enough.

Can only capture at DV resolution, Puggo? Damn. At least having a 16mm print around the forums could be good for the community in general. I know we shouldn't hope for our very own special OT.com HD print of Star Wars if we bought it, but it could be something to experiment with around the community. It's nothing big to hope for, but who knows what could be done with it. I have $300 I'd be willing to throw down with anyone who'd like to go for it.
