CDBurnerXP didn't allow me to change the speed, it remained at 4x.
I use Nero for everything except Dual Layer discs, because I've ended up with too many coasters and of course DL's are a lot more expensive than standard DVD+/-Rs. I've only used Imgburn for Dual Layers, except this one time.
For CD burning, I use the lowest speed I can choose with Nero which is 16x, and for standard 4GB DVD burning I use either 4x or 8x. Nothing faster than that.
I used CDBurnerXP based on doubleofive's recommendation a few pages back (I've been reading various areas of this thread in addition to going through it from the beginning) and I think the problem isn't so much the disc, but the drive itself.
My DVD-ROM drive is fairly old, but so far my burner drive reads the disc without any problems. Besides, I'll only have the disc in the computer for the DVD-ROM features, not watching the film or extras.
I am amazed by how much this disc lines up with the actual SW releases, so much so that I half expected a new menu location every time.
