To be honest, I'd be surprised if those scenes haven't been long destroyed. More than likely is that they were thrown in a landfill when DeLaurentiis Entertainment Group went out of business soon after ED2's release.

Big news for the ED1 discs when they get started - thanks for the fervent eBay bidding of See No Evil, we have a copy of the Japanese Herald Videogram laserdisc release of The Evil Dead! For those who do not know, this is the first-ever laserdisc release of Evil Dead (from 1985), that not only presents the film uncut and fullframe with more picture information than the open-matte DVD releases, but also has the original mono soundtrack and the colder blue-ish colour grading that used to be on all releases of the film before the warmer, "normal" grading that's been de rigeur since 1994. Many people who have seen the difference attest that the cooler colour tones are one of the reasons ED1 seemed much scarier back in the day. A preservation of this will make up Disc 1 of The Evil Dead DVD Companion, which we'll start as soon as the ED2 discs are finished :)
