SE Trilogy on DVD coming this Fall — Page 3

I'd agree that the original trilogy would be called the sequel. You gotta remember that George Lucas is essentially returning to the movie making block after telling everyone the ending. How interesting would most of ESB be if everyone knew Skywalker spawned from the loin of Vader? If you cut through into the future kids will be entertained as ever with Jar Jar, awed with Anakin's pod racing skills, taken down the path to the dark side seeing the juxtaposition between Anakin good and Anakin bad, whatever to send him over the edge in the third, then onward towards the (possibly memorized) original movies, completion with redemption. IMHO Movie timeline and real life timeline dictates OT as the original sequel, and eps 1-3 as the prequel follow-up. Now if Douglas Adams was around to share the book about was-were-is-were etc (haven't gotten that spot referenced) we could all move on to realizing that the latter portion of the book was left blank to save on ink costs. Thank you and good day.

Unless I'm missing it, the bits says it should be a 4 disc set. Where did you read 6 disc set?

This is WAY in the rumor category, but it's worth noting that the DVD Soon Canadian retail website has posted a 6-disc Star Wars Trilogy: Collector's Giftset as coming from Fox on DVD on 10/19. We don't know if it means anything, and we would caution you greatly against putting much faith in it. But about a million readers have been e-mailing us links to this over the last few days, and many inform us that DVD Soon "was one of the first retail sites to post correct Indiana Jones DVD pre-order information." So, you know... take that for what you will.

And you should all go over there anyway and check out the Japanese Alien Quadrilogy SE packaging. Alien head that opens with the DVDs inside it. Pretty badass. Nothing I'd ever want to own, but cool to look at.

I never hold my breath where Lucas is concerned. Too afraid of disappointment.

No kidding; if he was gonna do that, he would've announced that they are gonna be 3-disc versions.

Nope, never will. I have no desire to disappoint myself like that and I'm convinced at this point that I will be disappointed. And, even if so, it won't be for long. This from TDB.com...

Remember last week how we told you to expect Lucasfilm's announcement of the release of the Star Wars Trilogy on DVD sometime between now and May? Well... you MIGHT not have to wait as long as May after all.

Both TheForce.net and Rebel Scum have today posted a rumor that Lucasfilm and 20th Century Fox will be making their official Star Wars DVD announcement next week, likely on Tuesday. Their information again confirms that the films will be released in a 4-disc set, like the Indiana Jones DVDs, and that the street date is set for 9/21/04.

The interesting thing is, we'd actually heard this same information from some of our industry sources a few weeks ago - folks who have been extremely reliable over the years. But we know this subject is a real hot button with DVD fans, so in the interest of not getting everyone worked into a frenzy, we've been sitting on it until we could confirm it better. So is it the real deal? Well... keep in mind that announcements like this are never set in stone until they're set in stone, so to speak. I would still absolutely regard this as tentative. Lucasfilm could announce Monday instead of Tuesday, or they could wait until the following week, or the end of the month. That said, it's definitely our belief here at The Bits, based on the best information we have, that an official announcement of some kind is very close.

So let's wait and see what next week brings, shall we? Just maybe good things. Stay tuned...

That sounds great...apart from the same thing I keep harping on about.
This box set will not match 1 & 2.
Why are they releasing a box set???

I'm a fool!

I've just looked at my Indy box set, and have just realised that they are all in seperate cases.
I think I must of got it confused with the Back to the future box.

I want to know why the DVD's have been released in other countries and not here. I know it is all marketing, but my friend got the DVd's from Japan over a year ago...

Those could be the ones that got made by a company named "5 Star" but those are just the (1997) SE Laser Disc Versons Burned to DVD.
they have been around for about 2 years. as far as I know. «These's are Not Official.»
