has anyone burned this successfully with a program other than Imgburn?

As I've said a few times, DiscJuggler worked fine for me with the existing non-fixed .iso. The media I used was in fact a 2.4x Memorex DVD+R DL. But now I've finally exhausted my supply of those, so the next discs to get will be Verbatim, the People's Choice in DVD+R DL. :)

I used Roxio:Easy Media Creator 9 without the fix as well, it burned just fine.

That's your problem - you're using Memorex.

i've just burned 5 dual layer memorex discs at 4.8x (using a lg external
burner)......this is my first time, and every copy has come out without
a single problem....

tomorrow, i should be finished downloading this dvd 9 and will
report back on any issues, etc....

don't be so quick to judge the media, there's a lot of factors
that could/can mess things up..

I too burned the original ISO NTSC dvd-9 version with no problem, but I am using a Mac, and I used a Sony DL disc with excellent results. Peace...

I hate to keep asking, but anyone willing to help me out with a copy of the NTSC DVD-9? I'll gladly pay for postage and cost of the disc. Please PM me, thanks so much.

I am uploading the NTSC DL to Rapidshare now. It should be available the day after tomorrow.

I guess you have 2 usernames here or someone's copied and pasted your question. i did answer your question the first time you asked. There is an easy fix out now. The PAL version is fine it seems that its only the NTSC that has problems with Imgburn on certain computers.

No, I just hurriedly didn't "reply to quote", sorry. :( After following your instructions everything worked fine. Thank you again for such great work! :)

'i've got a bad feeling about this'

[commentary]

ok, at long last i finally was able to finish getting
this......and now that i've finished watching it,
here are some thoughts...

prelude
---------
for some weird reason, i got through getting 80% of it (ntsc dvd9)
from the newsgroup without any issue, then i started getting errors,
etc...and had retry getting it again separately...fine, it was my first
time getting something like this from a newsgroup, so it was probably
my error......then when i was 99% done, my connection slowed down,
taking an hour for the very last part..(probably didn't need the par
file, but got it to be sure)....another hour later of unpacking, unraring,
and getting the files ready...so far so good....then for some crazy reason,
i decided to switch some cables on the back of my computer, and then
i 'accidentally' unplugged the computer, and messed up my video connections
too.....half an hour later, i finally got the computer back up and running..
i finally got back to checking the unpacked files, and then trying to burn
the discs... burning went pretty well, in fact i had NO issues burning the DL dvd
without even using the fix, so that part was good..

the viewing
=======
i have my computer splitting the video between a 20in analog+19in widescreen
in dual mode, and a 32inch widescreen HDTV..so i set it to the TV...got the
burned disc, and used Nero vision to play it..(actually VLC player crashed
halfway through it at the layer change i think)....i have an altec lansing 5.1
hooked up, and the sound, music, and effects were all very well done,
and sounded excellent..the picture clarity, and colors were fine..

conclusions
=======
i enjoyed it a lot, but i realized that i probably won't watch it too many
times.....i looked at all the changes listed, and saw the differences in
the pdf file..[i have seen the previous version, and DVD5 once before]..

but for some reason, now i'm paranoid when i'm watching at all the
little changes that were made, some major, some not, some subtle,
and others blatant....

now, i've only watched the original-original versions about 20 times
or so, so maybe all the 'fixes' were things i had never noticed before..
i'm sure most people have seen it a lot more times.....but there's a lot
of things that probably didn't need fixing (if you didn't know about it)..
and now i feel paranoid watching this version at what was really there,
and what wasnt..

anyways, i realize that this wasn't supposed to be a 'replacement' for
the original-original versions (right?).....but it is a corrected 'reinterpretation'
true to the intent of the original , or what adywan presented...

technically/ideally
----------------------
i like the colors, i like the updated special effects, and some of the
SE elements are still there.. however, ideologically, in my mind,
i'll always be thinking about the newer changes....and by the way,
i didn't mind a lot of SE changes either (although i agree some of
those changes weren't needed either)...

result
-------
an excellent and unbelievable effort in re-invisioning 'star wars',
but in some ways, a little too 'correct', even with the 'purist' version..

i don't recommend it for die-hards, as they probably want the
'vintage edits', or just the straight 'preservations' of the LD's etc..

for newcomers, that didn't like the SE, but liked some of the
restorations, its a little more palatable, but some changes still stand
out too much

for the fans that get all the edits, this is the premiere version..

-------------------------
in the end, i guess it comes down to your mentality if you can take
the changes...

however, for me, i think the original-original versions were enough
for me..

should be up by tomorrow on demonoid/mininova if i can
double check everything...i'll probably post the non-ISO
version (VIDEO_TS) with the fix just in case...we'll see..

the DVD-5 version almost has 5 people completed after
a week, so it should be a lot faster getting that now..
i don't know how long it will take to get this..

if you have a rapidshare account, it will be a LOT faster,
as someones uploading it there, i could probably help
speed that upload also, if its not done yet..

A nice fair-handed review there, -1. :) As you correctly said, this was never meant to replace the original (that Lucas is sorry so many of us fell in love with...*shaking fist*) and never will. It's just a fun and extremely impressive and lovingly crafted take on the movie. It will never be for everyone, but even the hardest of the hardcore have to be impressed by much of the content, even if it's just the ridiculous amount of color correction.

As a gesture of goodwill, I've been redownloading the DVD-5 to seed and share, and also the PURIST that is torrented from fanedit.org. Since there was only 1 seed and only a handful of leechers off and on this weekend, I still don't have PURIST, but I've downloaded the DVD-5 and already seeded it almost 3 whole times (I wasn't home all weekend, so why waste my high speed not doing anything?). I'm ready for the NTSC DVD-9 torrent, where I will try to get it and seed it as much as I can for at least the next week. I think the fixed VIDEO_TS non-ISO will work alright, since that is what the PURIST that is up there is.

I'd seed the original XVID, but I can't figure out how to make uTorrent recognize that I already have it downloaded and just want to add it to the list...

Have you tried selecting the folder that holds the XviD as your download folder for that torrent?

I tried starting the download, pausing it, and replacing the temp files with the finished ones, but that didn't work. It's alright, there seemed to be plenty of seeds yesterday. And do I really want to push out the first draft?

Well, I tried to be patient and wait quietly, but I'm just getting too excited...

Any news on the torrent front for the DVD-9? I'm checking fanedit.org and mininova about five times a day in the hopes of seeing a link go up for the dual layer version.

In reference to the review above.....I think where this movie really shines, is in watching the entire saga. From my experience, after watching Ep.1-3, (love them or hate them), it is hard to accept the original Ep.4, or the SE, as a continuation of the saga. It is just too different than the newer 3, and for me is kind of a let down.

Insert EpIV "Revisited", and all of a sudden you can almost buy that this is a continuation within the same saga. Better picture quality, larger scale Imperial fleet, aliens that aren't plastic muppets, an almost respectable duel between Obi-wan and Vader, laser blasts that actually hit people and look like laser blasts, much better Death Star and ship graphic readouts, light sabers that aren't toothpick thin, and an epic battle at the end that is Star Wars worthy, not to mention explosions that look realistic, and Chewie getting a medal.

Aside from that the original or SE is a great movie on it's own, and will always have that nostalgic childhood memory thing, but for me Revisited has finally bridged the two trilogies together, and truely helped to create a believable saga.

Peace....

the rapidshare links are now available.
enjoy.
I have also included the fix that ady sent me.

Once again I want to say a big thank you to adywan for taking the time to create what is supposedly the best effort in fanediting EVER created by a human being. You have given us NEW HOPE and let the Jedi return to our hearts.

excellent, i see you combined the rars together...is there a need
for another mirror of the originals from the newsgroups? (50meg files),
along with the PARS?
