Never heard of this film before, so I did a bit of digging. Although the DVD is P&S, apparently there was a Japanese laserdisc that was widescreen (AR letterboxed 1.75:1). Unfortunately it contains subtitles in the picture.
However, next Tuesday 27th May at 2:35am, it will be shown on Sky Movies Sci-fi/Horror. Maybe someone who subscribes to Sky Movies (I don't) will be able to capture a nice anamorphic version for you (admittedly with PAL speedup, but that's easily dealt with...)
