New 'The Clone Wars' movie trailer — Page 5

I wish you guys that feel the need to reaffirm the fact you hate the prequels, in a thread that is about the new prequel trailer would just go post in another thread. Good grief. You don't need to keep posting the same old story over and over again.

The Clone War trailer tends to bring out that re-affirmation, if you know what I am saying.

That's still no excuse. If you want to discuss the merits of the trailer and the potentinal merits or lack thereof of the upcoming movie/series that's one thing, but to intentionally debunk it based solely on the fact they are from the prequel time period that's another.

What I mean is that is shares the same flaws that characterised the prequels. So not only is it entirely related but its also entirely valid.

I saw the trailer and I must say, I am not looking forward to this. The cgi looks crappy and the design does not look so hot to me. I'll just skip this cheesiness.

I just watched the latest trailer and completely busted out laughing. Now Yoda and the Republic are fighting for Jabba the Hutt's SON, and Obi Wan appears in front of Jabba much like Luke did in ROTJ?!? Yoda knowing and fighting alongside of Chewbacca was pretty bad, but this takes it to a new all time low...each time I swear Lucas can't ruin the story anymore than he already has, and each time I am proven wrong.

I won't spend a single dime on this movie. I remember a time when seeing something SW-related would get me excited and I would get that fun, butterfly feeling in my gut. Not anymore...

i think their are three writers because they are combining several of the tv episodes together to make this movie. Though some material will be exclusive to the movie and an eventual dvd release.

That makes sense.

This way they can make people buy the show twice! Wait, plus the thater ticket. Its a cash cow that Walt Disney could have never imagined.

Walt combined Davy Crockett episodes and put a movie on the big screen in the 50's. And cleaned up to boot! I think there might have been a Zorro movie done that way too. ;)

Where were you in '77?

Coincidentally, my Hyperspace subscription is running out this week. I'm in no hurry to renew.

The pilot episodes of the 70s Buck Rogers and Battlestar Galactica were also shown as "movies" in theaters. It was considered kind of tacky. Never thought Star Wars would end up doing what it's cheap imitators did.

Actually, the Buck Rogers character dates back to the 1930's. If you're talking about the series from that time, eh, it was cheesy.
You wanna know what? I actually and truly enjoyed RotS. Shocking, isn't it?
I'm only going to rent this via NetFlix. Whoopty-fucking-doo. Or something.

IIRC, the 70's Buck Rogers went through a couple changes in pre-production. It was going to be a miniseries, then they decided to make it a theatrical release. (It did well enough to warrant going ahead with the series.) If you've ever seen the movie, there are a few things too hot for network tv back then!

Sadly, the tamer, two part recut tv version with extra scenes isn't on the DVD set.

The Galactica pilot film was intended to be shown theatrically. (In Sensurround!) That's why there are two versions. Baltar is executed by the Cylons in the movie, yet he's spared in the tv series.

Err... okay, so exactly which fear was confirmed, again? Looked acceptable to me. A bit flashy, but flashy never bothered me that much.

That its going to be filled with terrible so called humour and using flashy action scenes to try and compensate for the weak story and dialogue. I mean, come on, the way those bloody droids campily screaming "woooh" when a blast hits near them and that stupid "losing its balance and falling" crap was unbelievably cringe worthy. If this clip was supposed to be a bit of a showcase for the new movie then just how bad is the rest of it?

My thoughts exactly.

Just remember: this is basically a really well-done saturday morning cartoon for 10 year olds. Putting it in theaters is decieving because it makes you expect something at least on the quality of a straight-to-video feature. But its just a kids cartoon show arbitrarily put on the big screen in a massive milk at the cash cow. If this thing didn't have Star Wars in the title no one would want to see it beyond its weekly episode on TV as viewed by twelve year olds.

Well its looks like i was pretty correct on my worries after seeing the trailer. This movie (and series) is going to suck. A new 2 minute clip has just come online and it made me cringe (you'll see what i mean right from the start). Doubt this will be online for long though.

Goodbye Star wars.... you will be fondly remembered

Yeah, that's about as bad as I was expecting to be.

So, this is basically another prequel movie only without live actors this time? George Lucas has finally gone and done away with those pesky actors- he's been wanting to do that for years! :-P

Now all he needs to do is invent a way to do V.O. using computers, then he can cut human beings out of the process completely. Synthetic voice stuff has actually gone a long way since those monotone Stephen Hawking things, its probably not long off if someone invested a few million dollars of research into it. And you could program the inflection to whatever you wanted since it wouldn't be translating live, it would be just like animating images--crap, no one tell Lucas, he'll actually start to do it. Haven't you seen him directing? His rare conversations with actors are obvious and simplistic observations about motivation, only explained with horrendous and stuttered communication, or else acting out how to say the line for the actor. So this has basically been his goal all along.

Yeesh, how did I get so far behind the times? I had no idea this was coming to theatres! My girlfriend and I happened to catch the trailer at Kung-Fu Panda the other day, and I nearly choked on my popcorn. How ridiculous. How embarrassing! There's really nothing new for me to say that hasn't already been said in this thread over the past month and a half, except that I laughed my ass off at the text in the trailer that says, "See Star Wars Like You've Never Seen It Before!" I replied, "A CG animated cartoon? This is exactly like we've seen Star Wars for the past ten years except that they finally got rid of the last three or four actors!"

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

Say what you will, but I'd pay to see any movie made like that, Star Wars or not.

Maybe George should make video games instead of movies i mean watch the prequels and the trailer for clone wars.

Me too because I would be curious to how the experiment came out but I don't think anyone with a head on their shoulders would actually endorse it as a legitimate alternative to using actors.

Proof enough that George Lucas wants to create something that will always be worse than the last installment. Did we seriously need another thing about the clone wars?? I mean, why didn't Lucas just integrate all this stuff into the PT?(wait a minute-I just answered my own question). I can never believe now that Lucas has done anything good for society. I can now only conclude that SW was a sadistic experiment to throw millions of people into a pit of despair that is caused by his perpetual disregard for the preservation of film. Think about it, SW itself is just a third-rate knockoff of books and films made by Kurosawa, Herbert, and Asimov. Now he has KOTCS, which really was the fourth-worst film ever, as I sadly predicted over a year ago.

I thought you said "this is off my attention radar." Don't you guys get tired of repeating yourselves?

Personally, I think this trailer is a lot better than the first. Makes me even more so enticed to see the film that I was.
