I have one of the Epson series (CX6000 series) and it scans and prints photo quality too. EXCELLENT for disc labeling.
I make movies. Not good ones. Not ones you know. Be completely unimpressed. Everyone else is...

Thanks for the suggestions, but I'm never buying Epson again. I had an Epson a couple years ago and it was bar none the worst printer I have ever owned!

Well it looks like it would make more financial sense for me just to burn as usual and use labels. I have labeled tons of discs (CD and DVD - mostly Memorex, Taiyo Yuden, and Fuji) and haven't had any issues to this point. Of course, now that I've said that, every labeled disc I own will disintegrate! :)

Since last year though, I've been mainly burning labels onto Lightscribe media. If only they made Lightscribe DVD+R DL discs...

Has anyone had issues with Verbatim discs and sticky labels?

O.T. or No T., baby!

Sorry to hear about your problems with Epson. I've had an R200 for a few years now with no complaints, other than ink is insanely expensive (like any inkjet though).

As far as labels, I swore them off many years ago after my friend's brother ruined his brand-new car CD deck due to a label coming off while inside it.

You can buy compatible inks for the r200 (same one i have) and a full set is only about £5 if you are in the uk from here:
EPSON R200 INKS

I just noticed a comment on fanedit.org on the Revisited page that has me a bit confused. It says:
"I’ve downloaded the DVD edition, is very good, great work, but the subtitles are TOOOOOOOO small (I’m latin american viewer)."
Now unfortunately i can't reply because my password is no longer working and attempting to reset it is failing every time. But i wonder if anyone has had problems with the subtitles. i made them so they were slightly larger than the ones on the 2004 dvds, so could it be a player issue?

and about sticking any labels onto a DVD then i have many ruined DVDs from years ago thanks to using labels. certain glues used will deteriorate the disc in time. avoid at all costs unless you want a coaster later on.

Labels throw off the balance of the disc. Your DVD player will fail sooner than it would of because of the labels....labels are a bad idea.

Well, now you've got me changing my mind again... :)

The HP C5280 looks like a decent enough value at ~ $100 US. I've been using an HP PSC 1510 for a couple years now and have been fairly happy with it. Maybe I'll take another look at the 5280...

What's the hard comparison though...9 years vs 3 years or 9 years vs 8.5 years? If it's not an appreciable loss, then why worry? You're going to have to replace your hardware every now and then anyway.

I'm probably gonna sound like a moocher, 'cause I don't know how to PIF, but could someone mail me a copy of the DVD-9 with Adywan's exquisite DVD artwork and disc-art once it's released? I don't have a DVD burner on my computer, nor do I personally know anyone who does. That's the only reason I'm not doing this myself.

If someone says yes, you get to know my address!

PS: I live in the US. That should narrow it down a little.

Please don't take this personally, you're not the only one, but why not spend $30 and buy one. Seriously I don't understand why that is such a problem.

My family is facing dire financial hardships right now. My dad's been having foot and knee problems, and has acquired a pulmonary embolism at that! He can't walk more than a block without hyperventilating, so his job is out of the question right now. My mom's job pays the bills, but that's ALL it does. We're literally living off of food stamps; that's how we get our perishables.

So basically, my life is totally screwed up at the moment.

That's why I can't buy a DVD-DL burner, or a DVD/CD printer.

God, am I looking forward to my summer job. Gotta get me some dough!

I also have the Epson R200, and I like it very much (haven't tried the disc-printing function yet, though). I also owned the Epson 740i (which I ruined with generic ink) and I've also owned the Epson C82 which was a piece of crap. I guess it depends on the model. The 740i had the best photo-printing quality of the 3.

It is amazing that you can buy a new printer for less than a new supply of ink! :-/

I'm thinking about buying an Epson scanner (the old UMax is showing its age and I have $90 in Epson credit from that ink-related class action suit). I'd like to get one that scans negatives, too. Any recommendations?

I know of two (both can be seen in doubleofive's excellent visual comparisons), so is this a third one, I wonder?

You'll have to wait and see the Easter Egg !!!!

Excuse my stupidity, but what are these DVD easter eggs that everyone always talks about? Obviously it sounds like some hidden surprise somewhere, but if that's what they are, I must be bad at looking? Peace, and I'm downloading the NTSC version as we speak, just like the rest of you guys.

The subtitles are the same way on mine on the NTSC DVD-5. They're perfectly readable to me, but they are smaller than the 2004 DVD's. Haven't tried it yet on my other player though.

Ady has put two Easter Eggs in the DVD9 version. Both worth finding!

If you do not have an HD player.. STEAL one to see this DVD9...
It is just superb. Nothing else can describe it...
(I've seen *true* HD discs that don;t look as good!)

Ady... I know its been said many times.. but it always seems to stand another repetition... Incredible work... just incredible.

Ady... I want to bear your children... This is superb!!!

And the easter eggs rock the house, yall! I almost whiddled my didies laughing! Well worth the search!

BUT I LOVE the Extended Alderan sequence. My first time setting peepers on it and I am WOW-ed out.

A beautiful encode to compliment your excellent work! Good one Ady!

So, when is the DVD9 going to be up on fanedit.or via Rapidshare? I'm not good with torrents or newsgroups.

So the easter egg thing sounds great, but how did you find them...just random numbers, codes, and clicking twice, maybe three times with four winks while drinking a soda and saying the word spank in a monotone voice....?
