After he knocks Vader off the carbon freezing chamber platform. He obviously jumps on a trampoline and his head pops up. You can even hear the bounce. Pretty weird that this has never been fixed.

Besides the FX and the return to the OT releases, nothing really needs to be changed in Empire.

That wasn't a trampoline, and you can't hear the bounce, no noise is recorded on the set like that, everything is done later in editing. You do hear Luke land, and his head pop back up from his crouched stance when he landed.

Even so, Vader gets knocked down and disappears, Luke jumps after him and stands up where we can see him. Where did a 6-foot man in a breathing apparatus disappear to if its a 4-foot trench?

And thanks to seven for the thread condensation. I've been meaning to do that.

After skimming the past 22 pages I compiled a short list of suggestions already made to help keep from repeating the same suggestions again.

This is great. Thanks for providing that list.
Although I did miss one of my earlier comments about an AT-AT interior shot looking through the front window during an approach scene where the vehicle speed seems way too fast. Does that bother anyone else or is it just me?

I do not fear the Dark Side as you do.

That's what I always thought. Luke just bends his knees when he lands, because a Jedi with screwed up knees is no help to anyone :P

(And I figured we didn't see Vader because after he fell down, he took off into the shadows to disappear and give Luke the element of SURPRAAH! when he was lured into the windy-tunnel section)

Maybe now, but sound did used to be recorded on sets. I may be wrong (I'm not doubting that) though I've always heard it was a trampoline that was the case and never anything to the contrary.

-Add FX shot of DSII construction (if shown at all, best to do it after the credits)

Maybe, the DSII construction could be breifly seen sometime DURING the closing credits...?...Now that would be kool :)

Even then, most on-set audio wasn't used. I think I read somewhere that about 80% of the dialogue had to be looped. That set was loaded with fans, smoke machines, etc. There's no way any of the audio would have been useable.

Seven - that's a good summation of some great points and suggestions thus far, and makes me realise how much Adywan has to actually do on his 'Empire' edit after all to incorporate a lot of these! I wonder which ones he'll eventually decide to do...and am very interested in what he eventually does or does not to reconcile the differing looks of the various 'Wampa' designs...

You know, at least theres not hundreds of in-cockpit shots in this one to add backgrounds to. That was my biggest surprise when Ady sent me the Comparisons. I had no idea they were missing. Is Jedi that bad in that regard?

No, in Jedi the cockpit shots were filmed at closer range so you couldn't see out of the cockpits rear windows most of the time, plus i don't have to add that bloody middle strut to every Falcon cockpit window scene ever again.

LOL

The pain you put yourself through to fix things that should have never been broken or fixed by ILM in the first place...

Just one niggle that springs to mind at the moment.

When the rebels are fleeing from the attack on Hoth,
make 3PO just run through the open doorway after Han.
The current shot when the door slams shut in front of
him and then Han drags him through is kind of lame.
Slows things down and gives 3PO yet another chance
to be annoying.

I've always wondered why GL includes so many silly or
annoying characters in many of his films, and certainly
in SW. If drama is real life with the boring bits taken out,
then I think we could also say that good drama should be
real life with the lamers taken out. They certainly don't add
much to a story revolving around wars and tragedy, because
they tend to get in the way of the characters who are there
to drive the story forward. We want to see heroes dodging
laser blasts from ruthless villains, not foppish mechanical
butlers wittering on, don't we?

Pity Organa didn't reprogram 3PO's character chip along
with his memory :)

Love your work!

I have to disagree also. The humour in the OT was great for the most part. 3PO's comedy worked perfectly well. Its the 3PO & humour we see in the PT thats the problem. Take the humour out of the OT and it takes away some of the magic IMHO. It became more childish, with a small hint of what was to come in the PT, but it still worked well. There will be no cuts (apart from some SE additions) to ESB at all in my edit. Like i have said before ESB, pre SE, is perfect the way it is. It will be mainly cosmetic changes i will be doing to this film.

I feel the same. The humor in the prequels felt forced and cheap, whereas the humor in the OT - except for the childish nonsense in Jedi - really added to the characters. C-3P0 doesn't realize how annoying he can be, especially with Han and especially in dangerous situations. Really makes you feel for Han sometimes having to deal with him. He's a character that was funny right from the start and his annoyingness was amplified by Han because no one else really responded to him in such a way.

This one is very interesting. Is there maybe a way to work this idea to be more integral to the plot a little bit? I wouldn't know what to do, perhaps suggest that the rebels on Hoth have stolen the new plans...or simply still have the old? Maybe Han/Chewie/Leia could end up with them, thereby making their capture of much more Imperial interest, instead of Vader abusing resources for his own personal reasons. Obviously we'll find out Vader's reasons later, but it'll tighten up the Imperial army's intentions a little bit. Possible?

Definitely interesting, but wouldn't that make the "many Bothans died..." statement meaningless? That would have to be removed or changed to fit with the new direction.
