My friend told me that he hopes a young Boba Fett will show up to help Anakin rescue Jabba's child (and thereby have the movie depict how Boba became a permanent employee of Jabba at a very young age). I think that would be awesome too. ;)

Urgh, I never considered that. It'll probably happen.

Uh yeah, because, ya know, Boba doesn't hate all the Jedi for killing his father or anything like that.

That would be the best part! An uneasy alliance would provide great tension to the story. ;)

Oh, and maybe we will run across a young Han Solo being raised by Wookies in a very Tarzaan/Jungle Bookish fashion. That would be a winner!! Maybe Boba and Han will meet and become good friends, but somewhere down the road Han still Boba's first love away from him, forcing him to swear vengence on Mr. Solo. This way there is a great deal of added depth to Boba's character, instead of merely chasing after Han for money like bounty hunters do, Boba will be following his heart. Thus making Star Wars all about the tragedy of Anakin Skywalker, and a little bit about the tragedy of Boba Fett. Who knows, maybe we will even get Boba force ghost photoshopped in right between Yoda and Obi-Wan.

Lucas already tried that in Episode III after all. In the rough draft, Han Solo helps Yoda while on Kashyyk. He cut it out--but we all know how he likes to re-use old ideas. Blurgh.

Can't they change the locks to the studio where they're working on this to keep Lucas out?

I was mildly intrigued, despite the repetitiveness, when it looked like it would be independent of Lucas (like the Clone Wars series more or less was). Now that he's involved, it'll just go from bad to worse.

I don't think they can show Boba being in Jabba's employ, because I'm fairly sure that in one of the extended versions of tESB (radio drama, novelization) or maybe one of the other books, that it was stated that Boba Fett was independent until he got Solo and then just stuck around because Jabba promised him more work.

We all know Lucas respects continuity.

Yep. If anything can be said about George, it is that he considers continuity to be of extreme importance...

Yup, Luke gets to come home to the cheering adoration of friends and family. His loving uncle and aunt, his grandmother, his best pals Biggs and Tank, the adoring Camie, those lovable sand people.

If there was a hero aspect to Luke's return, it was a very shallow one.

This is exactly why it not simply being some random, never before talked about planet that Jabba's Palace is on is just plain stupid. I mean you could make a fan edit replacing it in the opening crawl with some made up name and just leave the viewer to figure out why there's a jawa or two in the crowd. Tatooine's twin suns would suddenly be nothing special, but that's about it. Am I missing anything?

I figure it's Lucas sticking too closely to the Campbellian idea of "the hero returns home at the end." It's been forever since I read Shadows of the Empire, but as I recall, they actually do "rendezvous on Tatooine" at the beginning and then somehow end up back there again at the end.

Thats possible, but I have to say the idea of Lucas just recycling stuff from ANH but remaking it on a grander scale is much more consistent with all the other stuff in ROTJ. The Campbellian idea actually requires that there be consequences to his return home (ie that he returns in triumph and people actually recognize it, you know its Ulysses at the end of the Odyssey); in ROTJ theres none of that going home, and the only acknowledgement that Luke used to live there is a passing wise-crack Han casually makes. Its probably just coincidental (especially since that line sounds more like something Lawrence Kasdan wrote--I don't believe its present in the drafts Lucas did).

I know a lot of you have already sworn off the prequels, but if I said that if Han was in Episode 3, I would immediately go home, sell my DVDs of the first two movies, then smugly say "what prequels?" when people asked.

Poster is now out.

I have to say, I am VERY impressed with the poster. Has a very oldschool Star Wars flair to it! Better than the prequel posters, I might say.

although the colours are a bit overblown it looks okay, I'd hang that on the wall. I don't understand why they've stuck with doing the lightsabers that way rather than how they look in the films.

Looks like box art for a video game. Though, it's strangely nice to see a movie poster without an episode number on it.

Just noticed the 'John Williams' at the bottom there. It'll be interesting to see how the new music blends with the old.

The good: That poster is FUCKING AWESOME.
The bad: THREE WRITERS?! Uh-oh.
The ugly: An eleven-year-old baring her midriff. Nice.

I don't care for the poster. It does look like the box of a video game, but them I'm not exactly the demographic that the film is aimed at.

I thought that the Struzan posters were one of the few good things about the PT.

Hmm, I consider that a good sign. Maybe three heads will be better than one. Or, perhaps the three will properly compensate for the bad ideas coming from a certain one.

It is nice. Makes me want to see a poster for Episode VII done in the tradition of Empire and Jedi.

i think their are three writers because they are combining several of the tv episodes together to make this movie. Though some material will be exclusive to the movie and an eventual dvd release.

That makes sense.

This way they can make people buy the show twice! Wait, plus the thater ticket. Its a cash cow that Walt Disney could have never imagined.

"kidnapped jabba's son has been"

the trailer was laughable and looked like a videogame cutscene.

this is the end of our beloved saga. i will not stick around for the re-release of the phantom menace with 3-D jar jar.

it has been said before but i will say it again
