I was mildly intrigued, despite the repetitiveness, when it looked like it would be independent of Lucas (like the Clone Wars series more or less was). Now that he's involved, it'll just go from bad to worse.
I don't think they can show Boba being in Jabba's employ, because I'm fairly sure that in one of the extended versions of tESB (radio drama, novelization) or maybe one of the other books, that it was stated that Boba Fett was independent until he got Solo and then just stuck around because Jabba promised him more work.
We all know Lucas respects continuity.
