Wow, what's with the attack? I was just asking...
Adywan gave a list with changes he made, and this one wasn't on it. I was curious if there were any other changes he made, and why he considered them to be "purist".

I apologize if it seemed that I was nasty. I just took it as you were asking for more than Ady has already given us and plus I had a bad day...lol... : )

I'd love to be part of a PIF chain, with the unfortunate reservation that I can't PIF, since I don't have a DVD burner, and can't really buy one (since I don't have a computer either; I'm borrowing internet access from my grandmother while I'm working for her). I could certainly rip and seed on bittorrent, though I know that's noncompliance with the PIF rules.

Oh well. Does anyone know if there's a bittorrent up for the purist edition?

Hi,

I have the original NTSC release of REVISITED (the non-purist edition) and I'm willing to help a PIF chain start for that if it's what either of you are looking for.

Kind Regards,

Ok, please don't flame me for this. Ady, do you think the DVD-9 will be ready within the next 4 weeks? (month).

From what I understand, the Purist Edition has only been released via the newsgroups and a PIF chain. There is no torrent as of yet, to my knowledge -- I'm hoping someone will make one, too, so I can get a copy of it, and help to seed. I'd also be up for joining a PIF chain, once the originators in the US get their copies.

Take care,

How does one get involved in a PIF chain. I want this "purist" edition of Adywans edit.

Is there a list of what this "purist" edition entails? Any hope of a torrent?

Yeah, I'd like to know when the DVD-9 will be available on maybe RapidShare or similar. I'm not good at navigating newsgroups.

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

I'm not coming after anyone in particular here, nor am I flaming any one post, but please just give Adywan the time to finish the DVD-9. He will certainly announce its availability here and we'll all be able to acquire it soon enough. I can't speak for him, but from the sound of it, the authoring is close to finished and he is also finishing his cover, which seems to be the main factor here. Once everything's done, it's done and there will be rejoicing around the land. :)

In the meantime, there are DVD-5s of the PAL version, the NTSC version, the NTSC Purist version, an Xvid version, and a couple of earlier PAL and NTSC versions that weren't not quite up to snuff. ;) These are all readily available via alt.binaries.starwars, fanedit.org, and various torrent sites (except for the Purist version for some reason). I even saw a 700 mb Xvid on Demonoid the other day.

Any of these releases are great to enjoy the film as is, but the DVD-9 will certainly have some other special features and a higher bit rate, lending to an improved picture. That being said, I can't imagine the video being much better than the existing single-layer releases. I don't have many DVDs that look much better than what Ady has already put out there.

This has been a project over two years in the making and has been plagued by delays and setbacks. Trying to lock down a specific release will only lead disappointment if the dual-layer release is delayed from that date as well. I'm looking forward to this as much as the next person, but what's out there now is great for the time being.

Now that I've said all this, I fully expect Ady to start uploading the PAL DVD-9 in the next 30 minutes! :)

O.T. or No T., baby!

I am in the UK, if anyone can help me get a copy of the purist DVD and soundtrack CD (by PIF or any other means) I will be eternally gratefull. I have tried to figure out newsgroups with no success so your generosity is my only hope. Many thanks.

Just so you know, the soundtracks are available via simple download at megaupload.com. Just check out the last couple of pages and you'll find links to the FLAC and 320kbps mp3 downloads in posts made by Adywan.

I'm NOT asking for Ady to set an exact date, or even week for the DVD-9 release, but it would be cool to know if we are looking at a month, or 3 months or more. Something in the ballpark.

"Would you consider uploading an amended version for the DVD-5 releases?"

My cover isn't release specific. The details on the back are rather basic (a description of the film, credits, anamorphic, 5.1 etc.). If you wanted to add details, however, I can't imagine that it would be very hard at all (simple back).

I would upload the cover now, but I'm quite the newbe when it comes to this sort of tech, and the cover will surface with ady's DVD9 anyway.

So I guess you're never going to stop being annoying, even though Adywan has continued to ignore you...You made the same nagging requests for the DVD-5....Here's a hint. Stop already.

We just need Ady to come in and say "it'll get here when it gets here." ;) And that's all we'd need to know. If he wants to give us an ETA, he will. Rest assured that he well knows how much we're anticipating it.

Speaking of Ady, has anyone heard from him in the past few days? I know he probably has better things to do than pop in, but with his health problems, I hope he's OK...

Looking at doubleofive's comparison pics it really is amazing what Ady has done with this edit. Does anyone think it's possible that this could lead to some ILM employment? To think of how much Ady has improved this film technically without all the resources of ILM should make someone take notice. As protective as GL is of Star Wars you would think he may have some idea about this edit and if he were smart he would think 'if this guy did all this with his home computer imagine what he could do for me'.

And stop your flaming. I don't know why this is such a hard question to answer, he keeps belting out a "purist edition", as "soundtrack edition" which are very cool and weren't even hinted at until mere days before they came out. All I am asking for is a ballpark date, tell me what is wrong with that? I donated to this project as well. I am not making a demand, merely asking a question. If it going to be more than a month, he can just say so. It's not that hard to answer.

Seriously can't you just stop already? Isn't clear that you're not going to get your answer? Stop embarrassing yourself.

ok, this is all getting out of hand. i said on the 15th april that i had made a total cockup of the menus and had left out the isolated score so i had to rebuild all the menus. That means starting most of them from scratch and as you know they are not plain menus and there is a lot of work involved.. i'm also putting all my time into doing both that and the painting for the cover so i don't have enough time to keep replying to every post at the moment or to visit as often as i once did. All these things need to be finished before i can release the DVD-9's. releasing a "purist" edition or the soundtrack hasn't caused this release to be delayed. How the hell can i give an exact or even estimated date when i don't know myself how long it will take? its not as if you can't already watch "Revisited" as the DVD-5's are out there. Please be patient. it will be out before the 31st anniversary. :)
