Maybe a good idea would be to read one of the books before you go and think they are crasy stories. Movies on par with the OT could be made using some of the books as templates its not all garbage.

After I made my response to your post I felt like I had been kind of harsh. You wrote about something you though was interesting and wanted to hear the opinions of other fans, and I pissed on you. Sorry about that, I was just saying how I felt about it, but I can see how it would come as kind of a hit to you, especially since I was the very first response.

I actually liked the EU back in the very beginning. I really liked Zahn's books, and I really like Shadows of the Empire (perhaps more the concept than the actual book). I have had other fans tease me for liking Shadows of the Empire. It just seemed like it got to the point were every time I pick up an EU novel that seemed interesting it would end up sucking so badly I would put it down. I just got kind of irritated at how much they sucked. Now that the PT is out the market seems flooded with the things. I have never given the newer ones (such as NJO) a chance, just not interested, but perhaps I am wrong about them and they are not as crappy as most of the pre PT books. It would be nice to be able to enjoy Star Wars stories that take place in the OT era that are as well written as Zahn's.
