I'm wondering how the other anti-SE members of this forum feel about the Revisited DVDs? I haven't seen any of them yet, but would someone like myself who think of the SEs as sacrilege really enjoy these?

Some of the responses on the "Revisited" thread were rather surprising to me ("From now on, this is the ONLY version of Ep.IV that I'll watch."), such that I had thought of putting up a poll in this forum. But then the forum software was changed and poll functionality isn't available right now.

I would actually venture to say that Adywan's edit has brought aboard a great many folks who don't fit the stereotype of "OT.com member = SE hater".

As an anti-SE dude, I've really enjoyed Adywan's SW:ANH-R, but it certainly won't become my version of choice. In my book, nothing can replace the original, warts and all.

Aside from the Darth Editous-type "goof" and continuity corrections, he has removed some of the more "cute" and silly SE elements (bickering robots, bucking Ronto, gratuitous flying droids at Mos Eisley) resulting in a Special Edition that respects what made the original so great.

The re-editing of the Luke-in-Ben's-hut scene provides an interesting alternative, and the alterations of the DS reveal, the Vader/Ben duel, and the Battle of Yavin are enjoyable. I would say that this is what the original SE should have been: a fun "alternate take" on the film. And without question this is impressive display of what one guy (with a few assistants) can do with modern software and a little imagination.
