If you live in a country that uses the PAl system, can you still watch an NTSC-dvd? Does it matter if your broadcasting system is digital or anolog (sp?)? Because I think I would want the purist edit as well, for completion's sake. Sorry if my question is stupid as I'm really ignorant about these things :)

It all depends if your TV can handle as almost all PAL DVD players will play NTSC too. If you have an LCD TV then the chances are that it can. Older style PAL TVs are a bit hit & miss. the best thing is just to try it out.

I quite liked the "purist" edition. After seeing the extra footage and prequel music a few times it was nice to see the film in a more traditional presentation. Both edits have merit of course, but I may actually lean the "purist" way when all is said and done. Time will tell...

O.T. or No T., baby!

Adywan,

I haven't seen the Purist Edition yet (I'm hoping for a torrent), but I just wanted to say thanks for once again going above and beyond anyone's expectations. This is awesome.

If you do happen to have any more free time, you could always fully restore the OOT.

;) wink wink

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

I'm trying to decide whether or not to download the "Purist" version. I was so blown away by the regular edition of Revisited that I don't know I'd even miss those subtle changes. May check it out anyway just for the hell of it.

The DVD-9 isn't out yet right? This is something different?

"Purist" is something Ady threw together to make the few of us (not me) who were upset about adding music from the other movies in.

It also serves as a distraction until Ady can get the DVD-9 done.

Adywan, thank you so much for what you've done on this. I watched the edit with my brothers, and while they weren't quite as enthusiastic as I was, it was definitely very cool.

I loved touches like the hyperspace tunnel towards the end and the new perspective for Obi-Wan deactivating the tractor beam. The major changes--the new Death Star introduction (and scoring--nicely done), the revamped TIE fighter attack, and the new Death Star battle were all terrific. The latter particularly has some great stuff. The new entrance for the TIEs is extremely well done--there's this great sense of "Oh, crap, we're in it now!" The new "Biggs? Biggs!" line also works really well, as if it was intended to be that way originally.

Now, when I read someone's comments about the music for the Ben vs. Vader duel, I wasn't sure how it would strike me. The editing is fantastic--not as flashy as the others, but you did a great job of making the duel less start-and-stop, and it's much improved. I do see where the music comments came from, though. It does seem like a bit much for what's happening--particularly in things like when Han, Chewie, Luke, and Leia all regroup, and the music volume goes down, but it's still really busy and dramatic. However, I will say that, given the fact that you were taking that approach, the way you got back into the original music and flow was very well done.

Overall, this was a top notch fan edit, probably the best I've seen, and the fact that you pulled off such an ambitious project so well is really amazing. Many kudos to you! Great job!!

EDIT: Ah, a purist edition. Interesting. I may try to wait and do a PIF with the DVD-9 version, but I'd definitely be interested in seeing the new perspective on Revisited. (A big thanks to OBtwosy for getting Revisited sent to me, BTW. If anyone in the U.S. needs a copy of the DVD-5, PM me)

Just watched the PURIST edition. I have to admit that I do prefer the Ady original over the PURIST. I really enjoyed having the music from the PQs in the OT. To me the Vader/Obi fight had alot more meaning with the EPIII music that they fought to the first time. Same with the briefing room......the music really let's you know who is in control of the Empire eventhough we never see Palpatine. And last.....you just can't beat the Ady Death Star Battle Spectacular!!!!

It was cool to see the same edit from a slightly different perspective but the original REVISITED is my new and only verison of EPIV.

Thanks again Ady!!!

Thanks for the info, ady. We have an older tv, but I'm gonna give it a shot and se if it works.

Will someone torrent it though. Or maybe put it up on rapidshare? I can get it through rapidshare, but I'm not a member of Usenet.

I was curious on how much longer it will take for the DVD-9

Just asking.

Thank you.

Ady,

I've got a very hi-res version of that shot. Just give me your e-mail and I'll send it to you ASAP.

Wow, what a great publicity shot that is. It looks like back in '77, Lucas was undecided who Leia should end up with...Luke, Han or Chewie!

Adywan, just to show you how much of an impact Re-visited has made....I recently watched your "purist" edition, and the Re-visited tweaks missing from that version
( New Death Star reveal, duel music, extended TIE attack) stuck out like a sore thumb, even though the content is much closer to the original theatrical version!

I can say with no hesitation that "Re-visited" has trumped, shamed and replaced Lucasfilm's official "Special Afflicition" in the heart and mind of this original member of the '77 club. Many thanks, again.

Does anyone have a higher res, clearer version of this image?

What a _fantastic_ picture! And I can only imagine what you're planning for it....

(Sorry --- neat to see a picture I've never seen before!)

I was going to say pretty much what Matt here said. The best part is that they had no idea what they were getting into at this point... "Yeah sure, we'll take publicity stills for this cheap movie. No one's ever going to see them anyway!"
