If you look under Tools/Information and Errors/Information and Errors (or hit ctrl-I), it'll give you a list of problems.
This includes subtitles that are too short.
It can auto-correct them.

Be careful though, the default 'errors' that Subtitle Workshop looks for is a bit extensive and I usually disable half of them because they'd cause more damage then they'd fix.
