Ady, can you tell what subtitles will be included on the DVD 9?

Same as on the DVD-5

Ady, I noticed a few typos in the "changes" subtitle track; I know some of them have been pointed out already by others. Part of my job involves proofreading, so I'm quite good at catching and correcting these types of errors. If you'd be interested, I'd be happy to give your subtitle file(s) a thorough going-over. Just an offer, PM me if you're interested.

Ron Moses

Can you give me an example? I ran the whole subtitle track through the spellchecker and it reported no errors

I'd have to watch it again to give you anything specific, but I do recall seeing one or two things that would have gotten past a spell checker. If I have an opportunity to watch it this weekend I'll see what I can catch.

I recall around the time Han does the his scream chase of the troopers in the ds hallway the subtitles have and error, "wounded like somone spitting" when it should be "sounded" instead of "wounded."

At about 27:10 it says "Treadwell droid no longer changes 'paces' between shots."
Was that supposed to be 'places'?

Also around 37:30 it says "Added senate line for commander in bottom left 'or' screen," rather than "bottom left 'of' screen."

Those are a couple things that spellcheck wouldn't pick up.

Thanks for the examples, Sevb32 and Bobocop. So yeah, if you're interested in having your subtitles reviewed by someone who's been proofreading documentation and marketing materials for the past ten years, I'd be glad to do it. It's just faster to review the files than it is to go through the movie several times. Anyway, the offer is there.

I was watching Revisited again, and I decided to pause on the new Death Star viewscreens to see what the Aurebesh said. I was kind of hoping that they would make sense contextually, but save for "Yavin IV" and "Yavin IV in range", they are all little jokes/references. I've got the translations, but I won't spoil them for you...

Speaking of the viewscreens...

Adywan, I remember you said you might include my Galactic Basic font in some of your viewscreen graphics. I kept an eye out for it while watching the movie several times, but I never saw it. Did you end up using it at all? Do I need to look more closely?

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

Ok, so i downloaded it of utorrent, & ididn't pay for it, so no need to kick anyone in the nuts lol.

since a few people were mentioning a few things that needed fixing, your new shot of Luke & Liea swinging across the canyon, where you said you used a new matt, to make it look bigger, it works but if you look at where the actual ledge, where they were standing is, is much lower than where they look. They look like they swung from the top of the doorway.

still a great movie, & the Death Star Battle is sublime!

The video bitrate is already set to the highest possible. It's set to 7000kbps average 8000kbps max. If i push it any higher then some players will have issues with the video due to DVD bitrate limitations. The main video has already been rendered so all i am doing is filling the extra space with what i can.

Ady,

I didn't realize that the video bitrate was already maxed out so that's not an issue after all. How much extra space is left for special features? It sounds like you've already got quite a bit of stuff on there so I'd imagine there isn't much room left. By the way, approximately how much longer do you think it will be before the DVD-9 is uploaded to Usenet? The only reason I ask is because I'm going out of town soon and I won't have internet access for a couple weeks. Just trying to get an idea of the timing and whether I'll be able to download it before I leave or if I'll have to wait until I get back. Take care, mate.

all i did to that shot was extend the sides & bottom of that shot, the whole middle section of the video is exactly the same as in the original version. They swing from exactly the same place as they have done in every other version. When they filmed this scene its clear that they don't swing from the same doorway that they were in every other shot anyway. They swing across to the same ledge that the stormtroopers were firing from to make it look like they were higher. Not much i could do about that though.

Thanks for the offer Ron. I'll get the subfile to you ASAP.

The DVD-9 will be about a couple of weeks away. I have about all the features i can pack onto it now so all that's left to do is the authoring & fix a few issues and finish the official cover then the PAL is good to go followed by the NTSC not long after

Just a quick update. I've fixed all the errors in the trivia sub track ( thanks ron2112). I've also just completed the New audio track. I'm 95% happy with this mix now. I've been messing about with Vader's voice and i have added a few minor FX, mainly modulation, and he sounds so much better now. It is a very subtle yet noticable difference, closer to how he sounds in the rest of the OT now. Here's a sample:
VADERS NEW VOICE

Just building the menus for the DVD-9 and then the DVD will almost be complete.

I love how you fixed everything that I thought was broken, but continue to fix things I never even noticed. We appreciate it. Anything I can do to help with Empire, let me know.

So am I correct in saying there were no more video changes since DVD-5? Or did you put the blast mark when Luke first blasted the controls that close the door/extend the bridge. Or erase the blast mark that was already there when the Stormtroopers fired on the back of that same door as Luke and Leia closed it.

No i haven't done anything to those shots. if you notice that the panel is a completely different one where you see the blast mark anyway because the light holes have disappeared and the mark on the door is a putty mark that contains the squib. I don't want to do any more things to the video. I just want the DVD-9's finished and i can then finally put this thing behind me. I did change one thing though. In the scene with 3po in the control room, originally i added an extra gun to match the shot where the troopers blast in. I decided to give this another go and i managed to remove the gun from the later scene better than i attempted to do originally. but that is the final ever change (oh apart from a small tweak to the 3po saturation change that was recently mentioned in the desert that i finally managed to fix). This edit is done.

I have been toying with having an alternate mix that wouldn't have the battle of the heroes music, the music during the conference scene, Beru's monomix voice & a couple of other things changed for those who hated the additions. But this is still only an idea and possibly won't happen and it would only be stereo too.

EDIT: after checking out the duel without music it isn't going to happen. it's just doesn't have the same impact without the music.

Oh and Sevb32, please change your avatrar. I don't appreciate that you have stolen mine. The new forum software has taken away the need for any duplicate avatars now.

Well. just along as you get rid of that one obvious (there may be others) squib on the trooper Leia shoots in cloud city for when you get around to the ESB Revisited. I was not complaining, just asking a question. I just hope someone can help me with getting the DVD-9 because I don't have a dual layer burner. I hope something can be arranged.

Quit working so hard Adywan, the DVD5 was perfectly fine :P

I think the only alternate sound mix that we need is the isolated score. Lucasfilm should have done that for all 6 movies, but especially for the originals.

Just wanted to chime in and say how much I enjoyed this.

I absolutely hated the Special Edition, and if anyone had told me that the problem was that GL hadn't changed enough, I would have thought they were crazy. But the Revisited version is an absolute revelation.

It was great fun to anticipate all the changes that might be made, and then be surprised by the ones that come out of nowhere (of course it would be the other guy's arm getting chopped off in the cantina! Wow, the MF is actually shooting back at the TIE fighters!) I even got a kick out of the changes to the end credits.

The only thing that didn't really work for me was the added music to the first death star conference, and the added music the the lightsaber duel. Music can just be so scene specific that it just didn't fit in for me.

(Not to mention the pacing of the duel is a little slower than Episode III; it almost feels like that Seinfeld episode where George is racing away on an old-people scooter, with some senior citizens in slow pursuit on their scooters, and they play cheesy action music as if it were a high speed chase.)

But this is a truly amazing effort, and I hope it becomes widely known.

Cool enough if you don't wanna change anything else, it's your edit obviously, but I just know how easy it would be to paint out a seen squib on the door before it explodes, I know getting the control box that extends the bridge burn mark would be harder.

Another thing, and it could just be me, but anyone else think that side view of the SE landspeeder after it just entered Mos Eisley (when it passes that rebel transport looking ship) C3PO looks a bit too yellowish compared to the other shots? I thought it might look better to mute his color a bit in that particular shot, I know it's a CG speeder and all. Not your fault though, this was from the SE.

I am not complaining, so folks please don't give me heat.
