Although my first look at what 'Ponda Baba's' actual 'flipper' arm looked like on the cantina floor was from the deleted shot on the 'Behind the Magic' CD-Rom years ago, I ALWAYS preferred the 'hairy hand' with fingers...

This has been the 'default arm' for generations now, and I would prefer the original shot of 'Ponda Baba shoving Luke' to have had the brief 'flipper' in THAT shot to be amended to look like the 'hairy hand' instead. I personally rather the fantasy image of an 'alien' arm being shown in this instance, rather than the too-graphic seeming dismembered 'human'-like arm. AND I always liked that orange tunic and will miss the color of it against the floor now... Also, it would be nice if the 'hairy hand' on the floor was darkened a little to better match the black hair on Ponda Baba.

Sounds like a good idea for an edit of your own, ImperialFighter. If you do decide on such an undertaking there are plenty of people around here willing to share they knowledge and help you on your way.

Good to hear the DVD-9 isn't too far away Ady, I bet you are ready to have it out there and be done with this thing for a good long while.

So, anyone have any great disc art to go along with this fantastic film and the very cool cover art that's already available? I'm making copies for friends and would love to include some great art for the disc, but my graphic skills are crap to say it nicely... :)

Can;t recall which page exactly, but there are two different (but very similar) disc artworks in this thread.

IIRC Ady said he'd put up (or include?) HIS version of artowrk with the DVD9, but for the DVD5 the artwork already up (Red holo image of the Death Star) is pretty groovy.

Regarding my previous post about the sound being out of sync on the NTSC version, it appears the culprit is indeed by XBOX and/or TV. I properly burned the disc instead of letting XBMC unpack the rars, and still had the same problem as before. I then tried the disc in another player hooked up to another TV, and the sync issues disappeared. Long story short: it's me, not the disc.

I still find it odd that it happens only from around the 53 to 58 minute range. I looked again and the audio is actually ahead of the picture, not behind as I previously stated. I tried the 'no cache' option in XBMC and that helped a bit, but didn't eliminate the problem. Guess it's the XMBC forum for me.

I did see that OBtwosy was going to create some art with the red holo, and then Ady posted a low res version of his (which was the same concept), but I haven't seen anyone post a hi-res version. I've searched, but didn't see it... maybe I missed it?
If someone could point me in the right direction, that would be spiffy!

Sorry if this has been covered already, but has there been an explanation of exactly how the "de-special"' shots were done? (especially the one in Mos Eisley where the dinosaur was removed and replaced with the original white droid) I'd love to know how
to do that. Thanks.

This was one shot that was going to be covered in the special features on the DVD-9 but some of the files used in its creation were lost after one of the hard drive failures so, although i still have the after effect project file, i no longer have the video files used and would now take too long to recreate the whole process.

Uh, feel free to watch the original version of Star Wars, or even the SE. You won't miss your preferred arm that way.

This is gonna sound totally stupid, I'm sure, but is it posible to burn a dvd on a cd-burner, or do they require different burners?

As much as I'd like to say 'You're right, that does sound stupid', I'm not gonna. No it's just not possible, but at the price of todays DVD burners it's not hard to justify shelling out a few bucks for the benefit of having one.

I believe it all has to do with the laser width, a DVD laser is 650nm and a CD is a whopping 780nm, so no, not exactly possible.

Thanks again, Adywan! This is awesome. Don't imagine I will ever go back to the 2004 DVD unless it's for the commentary. Can't wait for the DVD-9. I am still seeding the NTSC DVD-5, but I plan to stop when I get to 5:1.

I must say the de-ronto-ing of that shot left me scratching my head as to how it was done. Awesomeness!
You can see they were doing basically the same thing in the original version by having the droid go in front of the camera to make it seem 'busier,' but throwing the ronto in there was overkill. It took up too much of the screen for too long.

Yeah, the Ronto crossing close in front was a bit much, I still wish the Ronto was left in the background at the tail end of that scene, though, but it is not my edit. But 95 percent of the changes I loved.

Adywan actually released a photoshop file for one of the frames from this shot. It had multiple layers in it (background, right wall, landspeeder, etc), and you could look at all the different layers to get an idea of all the work he put into it. Pretty cool. I think I may actually still have this photoshop file somewhere on my hard drive.

In fact, I have probably every file released since this porject was started. Adywan, if you think you might need any of these files because of your drive crash, please let me know. And they might make an interesting "Supplemental disk".

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

C3PX - Thanks, I may take some of that advice up, as I'm very new to all this fan editing malarky, which I find fascinating.

auximenies - I've only recently discovered this amazing world of fan editing, along with sites such as this fantastic one, and haven't had a chance to read through the 189(!) pages yet, on this topic so far, to see what, if any, comments Adywan might have had to say on his decision to 'swap' the 'arms'. Please don't take offence, as it is only my own particular preferrence, and I realise it is no more or less relevant than anyone else's...excepting Adywan's, whos edit it is.

I have made a couple of suggestions so far on the 'Empire Revisited' thread, and will only ever give a reason why I think I prefer something. Adywan has created STAR WARS on STEROIDS at the end of the day, and for that I will always be very grateful.

I was at OmegaCon n Birmingham, Alabama this weekend and presented Peter Mayhew a.k.a. Chewbacca with a copy of the NTSC DVD-5 version of Star Wars Revisited. He seems very eager to see it, especially after I told him Chewbacca gets a medal. He said,..."well, it's about time!" He and his wife said they would watch it this week. Here's a link to the pic of me presenting him the DVD.

JangoJason - I'm sure he and his wife will have loved it! I wonder how many people affiliated to the actual production have seen it yet, or will get to see it in the future...

I don't mean because of Peter Mayhew himself 'passing it on', but rather how many have been already made aware of it by 'other' sources.

I'm sure once word get around more and more will see it, especially among those who frequent the convention circuit (Bulloch, Prowse, Baker, Daniels...etc). I'd love to hear reaction from someone at Lucasfilm. I'll be seeing Steve Sansweet in Sept and will definitely get him a copy of it then. Hopefully it will be the DVD9 with Ady's yet unseen cover.
