I notice no one has mention how well done Dr Evazon's arm looks on the floor now.

I thought I mentioned several pages back how much better I thought the new arm looked. It's a huge improvement from the original shot.

I think the arm is great. Any shot different from the original wolfman arm is naturally going to be a bit jarring, but I think the shot looks good and is the most logical option.

I love the new arm...

I believe I was the first person to suggest scorching the ends of the jacket and posted a few PS'ed samples...the final product is exactly how I'd hoped it would look.

Great work.

We watched the DVD the other night and enjoyed every minute of the movie.

*Ahem* I always feel the need to preface my posts by apologizing for how rarely I post anything... I would really like to participate more, as I have been a huge fan of a lot of the fan-edit work that goes on around here for several years...

I just downloaded the final version of ANH: Revisited and Ady I want to thank you...
I am simply in love with this project, start to finish. The new Death Star battle is just brilliant.. the added shots have the effect of sort of maintaining the spatial relationship between the ships, DS and Yaavin, the whole thing just makes sense in a way that it didn't before. It's just so much more exciting!

Also I disagree with those who didn't like the music during the Vader/Obi-Wan battle, I thought it worked quite well, along with your editing- it really kicks the action up a notch. More so than I would have thought possible, really. Simply great.

And removing the wacky robot fights and jawa/ronto antics at Mos Eisley, The creature stuff in the cantina, It's all just so much better than I would have guessed would be possible.

My favorite cantina effect is Hammerhead squinting his eyes, man it just looks so natural, you would NEVER peg that as a post effect. In fact I'm still not sure it is, I mean obviously I KNOW it is, but... it just looks so good that it has confused my brain.

Anyway I know there are already tons of posts with gushing thank-yous, but I just wanted to throw mine on the pile, too. So...

THANK YOU ADYWAN!!!!

can't you shut that chicken up?

I finally watched the NTSC version last night. It was well worth the 4 days it took to download it. Thanks again Ady for putting this together. I am going to enjoy PiF-ing copies to all of my friends. I know they will get a kick out of it.

I have a question for you Adywan, I guess this question can be directed to others here as well. I've been trying for some time now to get on a PIF chain, to acquire a DVD-5 NTSC version of your edit, but have been unsuccessful. I've sent polite pm's to a half dozen posters here on the board, who I believed would know of such things, but I have received no response from anyone. I still have not seen the completed version of Star Wars Revisited, I'm incapable of downloading the movie because of the limited technology I possess. Adywan, if you or anyone else could please just point me in the direction of someone who is part of a DVD PIF chain I would be grateful. Thank you. Sorry to go slightly off topic and sound like a beggar.

I haven't said it yet. ZOMG I love your arm LOL!

And although I never thought the lightsaber duel needed music, I never had a problem with it being added because it fits and was well executed. But the last time I popped in my 2004 DVD to compare something, I looked at that scene again and it seemed so empty and slow paced. I guess Ady's re-edited and musically enhanced version has really grown on me.

could someone please post a shot of the new arm, since I'll be waiting for the dvd9 before I get to see that.

So what was a strange hairy arm is Ponda Baba's hoof-like arm on the xvid, and is now Dr. Everzan's human arm on the DVD-5? WHOSE ARM GOT CUT OFF HERE?!

You must be new in these parts. There was a long and heated debate over this issue about a dozen pages back.

It is actually Adywan's cameo. He gave an arm and a leg to the project, although I have yet to find the leg.

Just to recap, the debate raged something like this:

"The wolfman arm makes no sense, so here's Ponda Baba's flipper instead."

"That's cool, but a) it's not readily identifiable as a hand per se, thus robbing the shot of its original impact, b) said flipper would be incapable of holding that blaster, thus robbing the shot of any sense of logic, and c) the audio and visual cues make a strong case for Evazan being the one who gets chopped, established canon notwithstanding."

[then a whole mess of blah blah blah, some polite, some nasty, almost all of it cautiously defanged by prefacing it with "I love everything you've done with this edit and I have the deepest respect for your work, but that being said..."]

"Okay, how about this more textured shot of the flipper?"

"Very nice indeed, but again, see items a, b, and c above."

[blah blah blah, respect for your work but, and so on]

"Yeah, I suppose the Evazan hand makes sense now that you mention it. And it is my edit after all, so canon be buggered."

And that's more or less how we got the hand, which I think is very cool. Your mileage may invoke an outdated Internet cliché.

Ron, that's hilarious. Thank you for such a delightful recap.

This July is my tenth wedding anniversary, and I vividly recall the marriage counselor years ago telling me that, whenever I say the word "but," whoever's listening automatically cancels whatever nice thing I just said. That's a nice dress, dear, BUT.... or This is a great salad, sweetheart, BUT.... And all beautifully captured in the quote above!

The leg will appear in the Special Edition that will come out in 20 years time ...

Ron, that recap was great. If only the actual debate could have been that brief. lol

You know the more I think about it, I really love EVERYTHING about this edit, BUT I really think he should have kept the flipper.

First off, love the hand. Definitely the best choice.

Secondly, no one else has mentioned it yet, so it might just be me...but I have a problem with the sound going totally out of sync on my NTSC copy (first release) of the DVD. I am playing the iso file using xbox media center (VLC media player), and at around 53 minutes (Falcon blasts out of Mos Eisley) to around 58 minutes (bye bye Alderaan), the sound lags noticeably.

Any input, Adywan? Is this an isolated case?

well someone mentioned it about the XVID but that seemed more like a media player problem as no one else seemed to have this problem. So far there have been no reports of this happening with the DVD. I just popped in the NTSC DVD and the sync seems fine throughout. Have you tried burning the DVD?

RyecatcheR — I had the exact same problem with the xvid version; I'm waiting on the DVD-9 so I don't know if it's an isolated case now, but it happened in the exact same place in the film.

Perhaps some people are just burning the ISO too fast. The first burn made of it was at 8x (my burners can handle 16x speed) and I experienced a weird skipping problem that jumped 2 or 3 minutes ahead and when it did it was out of sync. Weird but when tried burning at 4x, it worked and NOTHING was out of sync.

Just a suggestion....
