I know most of you guys are seasoned pros at all of this NEWSGROUP stuff, but I have been googling and trying to figure out how and what I need, without much success. I'm on a MAC so that complicates my choices.

I've been trying the torrent thing for this download and it is taking forever. At my current rate, I may have this thing by mid-next week sometime. (A week to download) I guess I'm thinking ahead to the DVD-9, and I do not want to go this route as it would probably take a month to download.

If anyone is willing would you please provide some guidance as far as the newsgroups? It seems like a way faster way to get this edit, and I'm sorry I know nothing about this junk.

Thanks, and to all of you veterans of this forum, I know these posts make some of you angry, (probably thinking, who would not understand this stuff, what a beginner loser), but I promise I'm not whining, etc., I'm just looking for some honest help!

You need to open (pay for it) an account with a premium usenet provider. There are several from which to choose. Giganews is generally considered the best, but they are not the only one, for sure. Being on a Mac (it's not MAC, btw) you'll want to download and register (pay for it) Unison, the easiest to use OS X newsgroup program. In Unison, you'll enter your premium provider's login/password/server info. Then, search for alt.binaries.starwars. Once absw loads, in the "Files" tab, look for what you seek and download. You'll find that most large posts (eg, DVD's) are collections of split-up RAR archives. For example, you'll see that the post that has ady's latest NTSC version, there are 86 .rar files roughly 50MB each. There are also .par2 files. You'll need to download these as well. Finally, download MacPAR deLuxe (free). Take all of the RAR's and PAR's you've downloaded and put them into the same folder. Double click the .par2 file. In the case of the latest NTSC posting, it is named "STAR_WARS_IV_REVISITED_NTSC_DVD_5_REPACK.par2" Let MacPAR deLuxe do it's thing and eventually it will prompt you for where you want it to save the unpacked RAR archive. In this case, it will be an .ISO disc image file. To play the movie on your Mac, double click the .ISO file. Once the volume on the disc image has mounted, open up Apple's DVD player. To burn to disc, use Apple's Disk Utility, Toast, or the excellent LiquidCD (free). Newsgroups seem really confusing at first, but once you get the few basics down it's really easy. At least on a Mac with Unison, that is. I've never done usenet on Windows, so I can't speak for that experience. Good luck...
