I am with lj on the whole price of the player thing. My cousin always insisted on getting the most expensive brand of everything. He and I were roommates for a while and it seemed like his Sony disk would spit out a large number of burnt discs as well as some original DVDs that were badly scratched. Amazingly, my $19.99 Apex DVD player could play just about every disk his couldn't. Doesn't seem like cheaper should be better. In all fairness this particular Apex, while still alive, can hardly read anything without skipping anymore. Now I have a $40 Philips player, and it is the best I have owned, plays just about anything, even PAL discs and divx files.

Hopefully Sony's plot for high prices will fall through. When I finally buy a Blu-ray player, I do not intend to spend more than $60 on it, unless it is a PS3.
