In my opinion, improving the duel between Vader ans Obi-Wan was neccessary. not just something fun. The gap between that duel and the great one between Luke and Vader in ESB was just too big. Vader went from looking like a hack swirling a stick to a rather impressive swordsman in just one film. Adywan's edit erases that problem. So I think this partícular change was more than just a fun thing to se.

Of course, there are other things in the dit that are more for fun. Like the buiser batte of Yavin that you mentioned, as well as the extended Death Star introduction.

I actually just said hell yeah when I saw this updated updated version of the Emperor.

. It looks perfect in the new trailer. I also think the pic does not do justice for the video.

Damn, was that in the trailer? I thought it was different. FTW FTW FTW.

Sorry about the pic being a little messed up. It looks perfect in the new trailer. I also think the pic does not do justice for the video.

Now THAT looks good... and combined with the original dialog, it's a change I could get behind!

I am curious to see what Ady is doing for the side view.

It is sad that Lucas cannot do it, and Ady does it in less than a month.

Damn, that is unbelievably better. It's like he filmed it back in the eighties, as if it were filmed right after ROTJ or something.

I believe that would be from the new Star Wars: Revisited DVD-5 that Ady just released.

I know this has been mentioned already, but one of the big things that sticks out the most to me is Luke running from the Wampa after cutting off it's arm. I can't stand the saber off mishap.

And adding more ships to any scene is just fine with me. I loved the addition of TIEs in ANH-R. It gave the Battle of Yavin scene much more of a PT feel. Excellent.

Now, I don't know if this has been mentioned yet or not, but, does the death/disappearance of Yoda bother anyone else? It seemed like it happened too fast to me. Maybe slow that transition down a little or re-do it somehow? I dunno. Just a thought.

I do not fear the Dark Side as you do.

Mess with Yoda's death scene in ROTJ? Please don't!

Anyway, nice trailer. I hope that Yoda shot at the end doesn't mean you're going to mess with Yoda's "Psycho face" attempt to scare Luke (that scene always cracks me and my family up whenever we watch it, Yoda is awesome throughout ESB!).

I can't see me doing much to Yoda's death scene apart from smoothing out the transition slightly. And don't worry.Yodas psycho face will still be in the edit. The shot in the trailer just synced up perfectly with his voice and i didn't want to use another shot in the hut right after the shot of Luke.

Okay I've just watched the new trailer...twice. I'm thinking the hologram 'throbbing' would be better toned down a little, ie: not quite so bright. Otherwise it looks awesome and sounds awesome. I always had mixed feelings about that scene [in the SE], i was excited to see it but the dialogue felt kinda odd. Looking forward to this.

I agree. It's a bit to bright.

One thing I remembered for ROTJ: when Luke jumps back on the ship after beeing thrown into Sarlac's pitt, and R2D2 ejects the light saber, Luke streches his hand to catch it, the pause before he does catch it is too long. It looks like a bad timing for a jedi.

Hi everyone, I'm a first-timer here, having just recently found out about this terrific site and Adywan's wonderful 'Star Wars Revisited'.

Adywan, you have made my favourite film 'Star Wars' even more watchable for the future for me, and I only hope that Lucasfilm et al will utilise the ideas of your many, many, small but significant improvements, and maybe even some of your more obvious creative enhancements into their eventual future DVD / Blu-ray release of this classic. One of the worst slip-ups that really spoiled the 'Special Edition' Trilogy DVD releases for me was the unnaturally darkened colour-timing across the board compared to the originals, which I also dislike in the director's cuts of a few other good movies I could mention. Seeing your efforts were a relevation though, and I have greatly enjoyed reading the threads on here concerning the collaborative nature of yourself and other members during the making of it.

As a designer and a huge fan of what you are doing, I hope to make the occasional suggestion for your current 'Empire Revisited' project, but haven't read all these posts here on it yet to see if they have been mentioned already. I look forward to reading what the thoughts on it are so far. Terrific teaser on YouTube for it by the way.
Good luck, and many thanks for your great work.

I third that, the hood is the key to the Emperor, that's why the hood in Ep3 looked weird, the definitive emperor's hood is seen in ROTJ!!!! The hood is everything!!

Ah, I've thought of something in ESB that has bothered me ever since I saw it.

As you know, in order to facilitate Frank Oz's performance of Yoda, the Dagobah sets for Empire were basically built on stilts, so Oz could sit underneath and stick his hand up Yoda's hole. This is made obvious in one scene (I can't remember exactly where, and my DVDs are 200 miles away so I can't check) where Mark Hamill steps in between the studs holding up the plywood making the ground, and it visibly bends under his weight. It distracts me every single time I watch the film, and I would really appreciate it if you could take care of that, Adywan. Thanks.

Speaking of Yoda and performances, I think Frank Oz's job with Yoda is just about perfect and doesn't require very much CG touchup. Unlike the bar patrons of Tatooine, Yoda has always been completely convincing as he is.

I believe that was right after the "I can't...it's too big. You want the impossible" X-Wing out of the Swamp lift attempt.

The more I think about Empire and Ady Talents.......there has never been much that really bothered me about Empire.

I can't wait to see what Ady does here though......

More AT-ATs & AT-STs

The ateroid chase cleaned up more....can still see the squares around the TIEs.

Would be cool if Obi-wan's ghost did not touch "real" objects when Talking to Luke..........oh wait....is that only in Jedi when he actaully touches the foliage hanging down....that is always caught my eye

Fix Han's shirt before getting frozen.....

Hans Tongue going down Lea's throat Just kidding.....

This is all just too exciting!!!

I was wondering if Ady thinks this edit will be done quicker than the ANH one was. Because he was probably still learning a lot (trial and error) when he was working with the effects software and etc. I was thinking maybe he could have this done within a year from now. I know the first time you do something it usually takes a lot longer than the second time you do it. I know he is burn out a bit, but maybe after a month or so of relaxation he'd be ready to go.
He certainly go some grateful people here. Me being one of them!
