Thx disco, I am just surprised that NTSC torrent is up but PAL is not.

I have downloaded the Rapidshare files and still same problem with the freezing. I think it may be either my image writing software, or my unzipping program. I used winrar to unzip...Anyone else use that? If not, then which do you recommend.

I want to try unzip my files again using a different program. If that doesn't work, then I will also go to imageburn for the iso burn.

@ gavin77: It could be that no one is uploading at very fast speeds, or it could mean that you need to try some different ports for your Bittorrent client. Are you using a router, if so try forwarding your ports. I'm still downloading my copy from a.b.starwars, and I'm almost finnished. I had to stop my download earlier today because of work or else I would be watching it right know.

Thanks for your help.....I couldn't figure out how to forward my ports on my router, so I just hooked my computer up via ethernet cable.....nothing has really changed....very, very slow.....0 download rate right now.....

Make sure that your BT client's upload setting is no more that 80% of your bandwith. If the upload setting is to high, it can't send acknowledgment packets back to the tracker.

For help forwarding you ports, check out http://portforward.com/

damn man you only have 65 posts here and you are demanding a PAL torrent, alot of us share stuff all the time with people, but it is comments like that, that make us NOT want to,I have the PAL version and it looks and plays fine, but I will NOT torrent, most people don't anymore.
why don't you do yourself a favor and LEARN THE DAMN NEWSGROUPS,it does not cost much to anything, and it is very easy to setup, quit just bitching and moaning for a hand out,for shitssake do some learning and work for yourself.

this whole torrent mess is getting waaay out of hand,I really hope it does not make Ady think twice about releasing the DVD9 versions.

Thanks to my friend giving me full access to his hosted server, I currently have a 12.8 share ratio on the torrent, and I'm going to shoot for 15.

I hope he doesn't kill me for pushing 2 MB per second (100 Mbps -> 12.5 MB/s) on this thing...

What is it with all this whining? I started downloading last night and had the iso file by this morning. No speed problems, no connection issues, and this is behind a university firewall!

As for the PAL version, be patient. Ady has spent 2 years of HIS time working on this, so an extra day or so is nothing in comparison to that.

DVD5 looks great, better than a lot of commercial DVD9's. Can't wait to see the extra bonus's in the DVD9.

I think DJ and Tubes are stating this perfectly. Ady just released this thing, calm down everybody. You all will find your copies. Adywan, thank you again for this amazing edit. I am anxious to take a look at the final DVD

13 seeds, 44 peers, less than 50 mins to go!

So the news group users got it almost two days early... but free is better!
Well worth the wait, and no glitches (fingers crossed).

Once I burn I'm going to seed. I encourage others to do the same!

Thanks ady, for a great edit!

I am calm. And I can wait. I wasn't bitching, I asked a question. I don't get it why people get upset so quickly. As for newsgroups, I do know how to use them, I just don't like them.

I think I've noticed an error with the NTSC DVD. When I turn on the fact sutitle track (which works fine) and then skip to another chapter, the track is no longer on even though it appears to be on. Anyone else encounter this?

Otherwise DVD looks great. Top marks.

I'll check out my DL when I get home tonight....The good news is when I left I was at 95% so by now my file is complete and my computer is just going to seed all day.

I can't wait though...lol too bad I couldn't get off early today.

I'm house-sitting for my brother-in-law tonight. He built a 24-seat projection theater in an addition to his home (I hold my annual film festival there). Guess what I'll be watching on the big screen tonight?

OK well i've just finished testing both the PAL & NTSC versions on the HD-XE1 HD-DVD(the Uk version of the XA2) player. both played fine without any problems. So it has to be a bug with the Firmware on the NTSC only players. I also tested it on a very old Bush DVD player that has always choked at the slightest problem on a DVD and again the NTSC played fine. Someone has pointed out that when loaded into DVDREMAKE it shows some errors. well i have checked this and although that program reports the errors they are just remote button commands, present on both the PAL & NTSC, but these would have no impact on the playback of the DVD. My guess after all this is that its just the TOSHIBA HD_DVD NTSC players that just don't like Procoder encoded mpegs due to their firmware. If you do a google search you will see threads stating that their players did the same with some retail HD-DVDs before an updated firmware. Same freezing issues mentioned here. Good luck with ever getting a fixed firmware now Toshiba have dropped out of the HD-DVD market though. And it definitely does seem localised to just the Toshiba NTSC players. Seems like the XBOX360 HD-DVD drives play it fine. Also it has been mentioned that the trivia track disappears on the NTSC when skipping chapters. has anyone else had this problem? I tested it on the PS3 & my Panasonic DVD-recorder and i can't see a problem.

Well i'm half way through the isolated score track for the DVD-9's. Originally i was going to remix the track into 5.1 but its now looking like it will just be stereo due to disc space.

Heh, well at least we aren't as lame as the people who waited for over a month in line to see "The Phantom Menace" right? RIGHT?? lol

Anyway...

I've now watched 3/4 of the ntsc movie on my 17in monitor (skipped around a lot looking at stuff, after all, this is 99% the same as the XVID just in better quality), and it looks great. Very impressive (especially for single layer)!

Both the saber battle and the Yavin battle still give me chills! The few creative decisions I disagree with (Vader's recolored eyes, the music at Obi-Wan's sacrifice) I can live with. I'm also glad you included 2004 Jabba as a deleted scene (I need to get my hands on some 3d glasses!). I love Jabba, even though the tail stomping gag always sucked, and I agree that the scene was unnecessary. I didn't care so much about the trailers, except the ESB one, which gets me excited for your next project!

There was a slight hiccup at the point where the officer informs Vader that the "Battlestation plans are not aboard this ship" but it turned out to just be my system (win2kpro, w/ PowerDVD5) choking because I'm seeding

However in that same scene I did notice that the rank badge on the officer's uniform seemed a little "washed out" vs. the much more colorful badges of everyone else in the movie. Apart from that minor thing (and the fact that certain inserted objects, like the new dish on the Falcon in Docking Bay 94, have a fuzzy outline) this is amazing, and by far the best fan edit of Star Wars I've ever seen... superior to the 2004 edition in virtually every way, and brings back much of the magic I felt watching the Special Edition (though I wish it was on the big screen!).

The severed hand looks fantastic! I thought I'd really miss the blood, but this looks great.

Thanks Adywan, and thanks to everyone who's uploaded and seeded. KEEP SEEDING!

The badge problem is due to the 2004 DVD transfer. It is really washed out in that one too. I tried boosting the orange colour but it looked a mess so i left the colour for the badge alone. As you can see here some of the colour is missing on the badge on the 2004 DVD so there was not a lot i could do about it. The saturation wasn't touched for the badge and remains the same as it is in the 2004 DVD. It just shows what a mess the colouring of the official DVD was. And you've just got to love the guy's purple uniform in the official DVD.

Hey Ady,

Watched the NTSC version last night with my wife. She kidded that you should add a couch in the trash compactor scene for the DVD9.

I had some questions that either you or one of the other posters could point out about the DVD9.

What is the resolution going to be for it?

Where in the board can I find a list of the extras? I know you posted them.

Are there any more tweaks to the movie from the DVD5?

Okay, posting cos I said I would.

Got the NTSC version, same way as the PAL.
Mounted and burned same was as the PAL.
Played it on the same machine as the PAL.

Same errors that everyone else was reporting! (I was surprised!)

Freeze at the Ep IV revisted logo.
Chapter skipping put me into the main menu.
Played it fine, but at 2:13 the clock stopped (pic and sound continued) and then as the scene cuts out to the long shot of the Tantive and the SD... FREEZE!

So.. the NTSC version won;t play were the PAL one did.

Has anyone else other than Ady and Me checke dthe NTSC one on a UK HD player?

???

I posted this earlier:

Now that the dvd-5 is out, should we be considering posting a new xvid and taking down the old one ? Im sure this fan edit is going to get lots of attention and osme people will download the old xvid and see the film pre-final changes.

------------

Does anyone know who posted the original torrent files and whether they can be removed. Ive alreadyhad one person moan about the "flipper" scene in the cantina, lol.

I have found an easier fix for my NTSC troubles. I am just going to leave the USA and move to GB...

I am going to try downloading the PAL and see what happens when I go to play it on my computer. I am curious now. I will keep you posted.

Thanks for the report Covenant. This really has me scratching my head. Played fine on my mates HD-DVD player. Its also strange that yours plays the PAL fine but not the NTSC and both use Procoder. With the reports that the timer stops a while before the freeze it does look like a conflict between the players and Procoder, but only NTSC encodes. I have just checked the NTSC template that comes with Procoder and the custom PAL template i created for procoder and there is a slight difference in settings. One setting is not present in the NTSC template and that is "put system header on every pack". Now when i had this box un-ticked in the PAL template i created i couldn't skip chapters without problems but it didn't freeze. I would have thought that the NTSC DVD template that came with porocoder was supposed to have created a compliant MPeg stream, especially after dong a lot of research on the web about all the settings for Procoder and everyone saying that the NTSC template is the best to use to create a fully compliant DVD MPEG2. I wish there was a way i could test new renders of the movie with different settings on a HD-DVD that's has the problem. but my mates played it fine so that rules that out. But when all DVD players seem to play it fine i guess that Toshiba HD-DVD have to have specific settings for a MPEG2 file. Now all i need to do is find the perfect setting for all round compatibility for the DVD-9

i won't be doing another XVID release of the new version. I'm not sure it would really be worth it anyway. there are only a few changes between the two.
