There was a rumor that he might sign with Green Bay this season. On NFL Network, they were saying that Favre definitely didn't retire because Moss signed with the Pats again, but the timing of Favre's announcement may have had something to do with the Moss signing on Monday.

Favre is one of the greatest of all time. Outside of John Elway, I don't know that I ever enjoyed watching another quarterback play as much as Favre. His competitiveness and improvisation on the field were second to none.
