Brett Favre Rides into the Sunset

A dark day for the NFL. I hate the freaking Packers, but this guy was the last of the era I grew up in...Elway, Montana, Young, Marino, now Favre.

Daaaaaang.. Man. I thought he'd play till he was fifty or couldn't walk anymore.

Still, 18 years is a good run in the NFL for anyone.

Do you think Moss re-signing with the Patriots was the final push for Brett to call it quits? I know last year he was pushing the team hard to try to acquire him.

Three nuns went to heaven. St. Peter greeted them and said "The Lord has been pleased with the exemplary lives you've led all these years. Despite temptations, you remained pure and chaste. So you are being sent back to your hometown for one night to sample the fruits you vowed not to taste during your earthly life with any man of your dreams. I just want to know who you want to be with, and if you don't mind telling me, why?"

Sister Alice was a stern parochial teacher from Manhattan. After years of secretly watching Law & Order and Sex in the City, the sexiest man in her mind was fellow New Yorker Chris Noth.

Sister Josephina worked a border mission in South Texas. She was attracted to fellow Texan Matthew McConaughey because she felt his overt sexiness was often betrayed by his unassuming "aw shucks" demeanor.

Then Sister Mary-Margaret, a good Irish Catholic from Chicago, told St. Pete she wanted to be with Brett Favre. He answered, "You can have any man in the world and you want to sleep with this marginally good-looking retired quarterback?" Sister Mary-Margaret replied "You bet. I've been in Chicago for most of my life and every Sunday night at mass for the past 17 years all I've heard all the parishioners ever mutter is 'Fuck Brett Favre.'"

^that was great.

As a lifelong fan and Green Bay (well, Ashwaubenon...the true grounds of Lambeau) I was pretty stunned but not overly WTF about it. It's been a tease every year since around 2001 that he might be done. He's really the only quarterback I've watched since I got into football when I was like....6. It's gonna be weird seeing someone else helm the team.

Hey look, a bear!

There was a rumor that he might sign with Green Bay this season. On NFL Network, they were saying that Favre definitely didn't retire because Moss signed with the Pats again, but the timing of Favre's announcement may have had something to do with the Moss signing on Monday.

Favre is one of the greatest of all time. Outside of John Elway, I don't know that I ever enjoyed watching another quarterback play as much as Favre. His competitiveness and improvisation on the field were second to none.

I was just looking through some old topics from before my time.  This one really made me laugh.  Can it please be true soon?
