As far as I know (only from what I've read) it's a stand alone movie, with nothing really to do with the conspiracy theories. I believe werewolves might play a role though.

The werewolves were a plant, and not actually in the movie. Oh, those sly X-Files folks.

The trailer looks badass. I can't wait to see the flick.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

The trailer looks like nothing. All we see is a group of FBI agents in a snow covered landscape (first hint it's X-Files), then some shots of David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson (confirmation that it's X-Files).

I didn't see anything really exciting besides "July 25, 2008". I'm looking forward to it, but it's only something to get excited about because it's a new X-Files movie. Other than that, there's virtually nothing to see in the trailer.

What lose threads were left in the show? If you ask me it went on too long.

Edit: I also don't like how the show went from super serious (with the occasional dark comedy) in the early seasons to the actors smirking and cracking jokes every five seconds in the later seasons.

You know, even though I am an X-Files fan, I just wasn't at all interested in this thing. But now that I have seen the trailer, even though like lj said, it wasn't much of a trailer, I am kind of feeling excited for this now.

I felt the show went on too long for its own good, and my opinion of this movie was that it was simply a way of cashing and milking out a few more drops from an old success, which it obviously is, but now the idea of having a brand new story featuring everybody's favorite FBI duo is starting to sound like fun. If this is decent, I wouldn't mind it if X-Files got a second life as a series of movies with a new sequel every so many years. Maybe the movies can be a bit of a restart to the franchise and introduce it to a whole new audience, especially since it wont be connected to the mythology of the series (right? This is what I heard, I might be wrong though).

Blame Fox for this, not Chris Carter. X-Files was originally suppose to run for 5 seasons. Carter had a 5 year plan. At the end of it, he wanted to stop. Fox told him that the show had to continue. So for 3 more long grueling years, crappy episodes were churned out. Just watch the series. It becomes painfully obvious in Season 6 that something has changed. Maybe those are the loose threads that sky was referring to. I certainly wouldn't call them loose threads though. I'd just call them bad episodes

"Millennium" was the shit! I would rather have a movie of that show then more X-files.

I don't believe Carter had any plan whatsoever. At least not until Frank Spotnitz joined the show.
I got so bored of the series in the end. They kept on introducing new storylines without ever explaining what had happend before.

Having said that, the trailer is very interesting and this movie may revitalise the franchise.

I love the X-Files, even the T-1000 episodes. I can't wait for this movie.
