To repeat what reave said, ADM's Pearl Harbor is highly recommended. IIRC, it gained the highest score in the ot.com fan edit contest.

I lent the DVD to a work colleague who remarked that the edit worked so well, it made him think that it was originally intended to be seen that way - and the romantic sub-plot was added on to the theatrical release as an afterthought.
