Hello there,

I came across this site while scrounging around the web.
First of all these Fan Documentaries are amazing.
I don't know what you do in real life but you have a career ahead of you as a film archivist.
Now that Blu-Ray has won the HD war we will see loads of old films being re-re-released onto this format with tons of
space for all manner of film history. If I were you I would burn off a load of these docos and tout yourself around the film
companies. If this is what you can do as an amateur, imagine what you could do with full backing!

Now that the fawning is out of the way, to matters at hand.
In RTJ it is mentioned that Jabba alluded to a history of having killed Jedi.
I have an old Return of the Jedi annual, like this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Star-Wars-Return-Of-The-Jedi-Original-Annual_
W0QQitemZ190201236940QQihZ009QQcategoryZ37889QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

in it Jabba has a great line that I was sorry wasn't in the film:
"Your Jedi mind tricks won't work on me boy! I was killing your kind back when being a Jedi meant something."
Missed opportunity there George.

Also were there any slight differences with say the original 70mm print of ROTJ and subsequent releases?
I could swear blind the exchange between Lando and Wedge went like this as they come in on the reactor:
"t-targets too big. My proton torpedoes won't even dent that!"
"Go for the power regulator on the north side. We're carrying concussion missiles. They should be enough
to take out the main reactor"
"roger etc..."

I saw it when in first came out in cinemas in Canada summer '83. Anybody else remember that or am I the victim of a self
induced Jedi mind trick? concussion missiles would later make appearances in the various Lucasarts video games. X-wing for a start.

A few years back I bought a ton of fan dvds off a guy on ebay. 11 SW DVDs alone. Alas they are all back home at my parents overseas. Considering the fandom on here tho i doubt there is anything you don't have. I also have the Time magazine ROTJ issue

Here is something to make you laugh, or cry. Another couple of years back I bought a lovely SW Executor tin box set. I had it
shipped to my sister's work address as the seller would not ship it overseas. Fans will know that there is still stuff on the bonus vid that has not scene official release elsewhere. When last passing through I asked her where was it. "oh, I was hoping you forgot about that" ?!?!? Turns out she left it in work for safe keeping, in the IT dept, then forgot about it. When she finally remembered it it was of course nicked. ARRRGGGHH!! What made her think that the IT geeks wouldn't be interested in it?
I keep reminding her that she still owes me one!

Finally anyone know how I can get hold of a copy of Building Empire? I've scowered the torrents but the seeds are all dead. I have managed to get RTJ. I got the flash vids off youtube but I guess I'm missing the extras not to mention the quality. PAL or NTSC, doesn't mater.

keep up the excellent work. The Force is strong in this one!

I would love to get hold of some ADigitalMan Extended Editions if anyone can help out. Monty Python's Life Of Brian, Love Actually Bloated and Flatulent. Ta!

Mac, I had the same annual as a kid. Saddly, it's been lost to the ages of time and all the junk I've collected over the years.
It was just a copy of the Marvel comic adaptation of the movie. I'm sure the concussion missile quote comes from that and wasn't included in any version of the movie. (If I'm wrong feel free to corect me.)

More importantly, I've just checked my copy of the novelization. The quote is almost word for word from that.

"It's too big, Gold Leader, My proton torpedoes won't even dent that"
"Go for the power regulator on the north tower, I'll take the main reactor. We're carrying concussion missiles-they should penetrate. Once I let them go, we won't have much time to get out of here, though"

Anyway, back on topic.

Great work JD. Looking great so far. Can't wait to add this to my collection.

Actually I'm pretty sure that there was nothing unique in the Executor set - at least, nothing that hadn't been released on laserdisc (it's essentially the extras from the '93 Definitive set along with The Making of Star Wars, SPFX, Classic Creatures and From Star Wars to Jedi).
All of this stuff is on preservation DVDs, dig around on this site a bit more and you should find them. If all else fails, shoot me a PM - I transferred my Executor set extras to DVDs a few years ago, they're not exactly archival but still pretty decent for VHS rips

You're right. The Executor box set (which I still have) had nothing unique in it apart from the photos cards.

Hey J, the footage looks great so far. I can't wait to see the whole thing.

Cheers lads,

I didn't know that stuff like "How walkers walk" etc was on the Laserdiscs.
I was using this as a ref but he doesn't go into details what's on them:
http://www.blam1.com/StarWars/Trilogy.htm
Incidentally where can I get a list of the extras on all those LDs?

I actually have all that stuff on those 11 SW DVDs I got off eBay a while back (spent a fortune!)

I must ask my Dad to go through them. Besides the making of and typical extras there were loads of TV clips.
Even the old Palitoy and Kenner ads! Maybe there is something new to this forum after all.

I also got 3 Jaws DVDs.
2 Blade Runner DVDs.
1 Alien DVD.
2 Indiana Jones DVDs
1 Apocalypse Now DVD that has the Heart of Darkness doc and a Barry Norman interview with Coppola.
Mainly to promote GodFather 3.

Won't go into more detail as this is not the place. See me on the other threads.

Great to hear from you again Jambe (even though its only 3 posts between my last post, it was rather too quiet for too many months). I hope things have worked out for you for the better in that time.

Oh, and thanks for the update. It would be fantastic to have the set complete.

Just hope 'they' havent got to you like i feared many posts ago. As, suddenly, everything good goes far too quiet, once and far to often around here. Or is it me just being paranoid perhaps?

Yes!

Maybe me being psycho a bit probally. Why do you leave the forums then come back all of a sudden then? Davy may throw a suggestion in on that one. Sad, as i dont really know you, but when your gone..........(this place aint the same-not in a gay way).

Ha ha! Thanks, I think.

Well, I had LOTS of real work, relationship problems a new child and a totally hectic life.  Eventually I knew I would get back round to finishing 'Star Wars Begins'.  By setting myself this target, I am making a promise to myself.  Lets see what happens.

I always seem to come to these parties late... Anyway, I don't know if I have any interesting things to add other than some really old, funny ads from magazines for Super 8 reels and Beta tapes ($60 each for 20 minutes or so of footage, I believe?!) and such. Good for a chuckle. Or maybe the old "Star Jaws" comic book or old MAD and Cracked stuff. Haha.

I saw that you're looking for a copy of the DVD-9 of Star Wars Revisited, but I only have the NTSC. I figure you want PAL, right?
