So...

Now that the strike is over... any news?

And does anyone know if the half season that just finished will be on a seperate DVD set or am I going to have to wait until the entirety of season 2 is done.

NBC has picked up Heroes for a third season. NO, the show will NOT air new episodes this spring. New episodes to come in the fall.

This news was on T.V. Guide webpage.

Well, then I hope this means that season 22 on DVD will be a bit cheaper.

EDIT: Yeah, season 2.

I hope you mean season 2, Agreed. I hope it also means it will arrive sooner.

I guess that 'Villains' will just wind up being the first story arc of season 3 rather than the second arc of season 2.

Any idea what the go is with the 'heroes - origins' idea they were kicking around?

I think that idea was just about ready for production, then the writers strike hit, and most of the actors didn't want to cross the picket line, which pretty much hit Heroes - Origins in the stomach. At least, that was the way I understood it.

No, there weren't any scripts completed for Origins. Kevin Smith was supposed to be the first episode and he was close to finishing his, but didn't before the strike hit.

I've seen reports that "Heroes Origins" is now dead due mostly to the huge fall in ratings this past fall, as well as the strike. It would IMHO be much better if they just make the season 3 scripts and story much stronger then to split production up into two projects. I loved season one, but found season two very weak, un-inventive, and much too repetitive. The whole idea of the no one can die if they get a bit of super blood takes so much away from the drama and fear of losing one of our heroes. Do you truly think "Flying Man" Nathan will die now? Come on, all you need is some super Clair blood and all better. Or, will it now be that they can now use Peter's blood too, as he shares the power with Clair? This is all becoming a run of the mill comic book story, and does not have that fresh felling that the show had for most of season one. Also the teen romance parts make me want to puke. Why are they trying to pander to high school girls with this crap? The ratings show this is not brining the show any new viewers, so I pray they drop that type of crap in season 3. Let us get some new bad ass bad guys, and forget about nerds like "Bob", who is just old, dumpy and boring. Eric Roberts had much more of a fear factor related to him then this jerk "Bob" does. The once cool cutting edge dialogue has now become common and plain. The Suresh and Parkman story angle is now nothing more than "Two Men and a Little {Bratty} Lady". Heroes needs to grow some serious balls in season 3 if it wants to survive!

whoah. Anyone else up to speed yet? I think I'll need to watch those eps again to absorb everything that happened. More plot development and bizarre revelations than the entire previous season.

Sylar:    Dood I dunno how to tell you this. You are as Immortal
Claire:   Like the Highlander?
Sylar:    Yes, Like the highlander

That's not exactly what he said.  We can assume that from Peter's mom's dream, but even her previous dream was changed due to Peter's actions.  I think we're going to find that there's more to it then even that.  I almost wonder if her head could've been reattached at that point.  That would make her truly immortal and "you can't die" would then be a fully true statement.

I loved the season premiere though.  I'm just wondering how Peter plans to "fix" everything.  Hiro was able to delay it, but so far no one's been able to keep it from happening (referring to Sylar and Claire).  I would think he could go back and tell himself to let Claire come to Texas, but there's no way of knowing if that'll really "fix" everything.

Did Claire really think she'd be able to shoot him at the beginning?  That scene played out exactly the way I thought it would (accept I didn't know it was at the beginning).

Yeah, I agree with you. Season two lost a lot of what made season one enjoyable. Hopefully they gain that back in season three. I only got to see the first half of last nights two part opener, but already we can see that the drama and fear of potential danger to anyone is lost entirely. It is becoming a joke, this show has more people coming back to life than a Soap Opera. It really takes away a lot IMHO. Heroes' changeable time line took this away from the very start, and the Clair blood just added to it.

At the end of season one, I really thought they were going to kill off Nathan, it made since, the guy sacrificed himself to save the world. Would have been much more effective had he really died. At the end of season 2 when they killed him off again, the first thing I thought was, "Yeah, ten minutes into season three and the guy will be perfectly healthy again."

Heroes is a pretty big rip off of just about everything else anyway, season one started off feeling like X-Men, and ended feeling like the Watchmen. Season 2 had some very obvious Watchman themes to it, especially the whole "old" heroes thing. I still enjoy the show well enough for what it is, but season two was pretty lackluster, and felt almost like season one all over again, but with different twist (S1 city destroyed by explosion; S2 destruction by plague; S3 looks like destruction by Suresh's mutant maker), I hope season three gets more interesting and original, but from the previews and what I have seen so far, doesn't seem likely...

Oh yeah, and how dumb can Suresh be? Seems like he is always doing something stupid and being an idiot.

Season 2 was pretty bad mostly due to the writer's strike.

As far as Nathan's concerned, I don't think his dying and coming back was suppose to be a huge deal.  I think the big shocker there was that Nathan was shot by Peter.  In all honesty, I thought that with the cap and jacket, Peter looked a lot like Sylar.

I'm actually starting to enjoy the changing timelines too.  It's not just "Yeah, I'll go back and change things" and then everything turns out just fine.  They seem to be borrowing a page from Eureka in the sense that everytime someone goes back and tries to "make things right" things end up being a lot different then what they expected.  I think it's getting the point across that as they try to make things better, they're actually making things worse.  Didn't the X-Men cartoon actually explore this angle when they sent Bishop back in time to save the X-Men?  And what What if? series did the same when someone tried to go back and kill Magneto.

I did. Not really liking this season much, not as bad as too, but still lost what little I liked about season one. Sylar being Nathan and Peter's brother is pretty lame, the show is worse than Star Wars in the "every one is related" aspect.

agreed, Although I've enjoyed the season 3 ride so far. I think my favourite character of the moment is the new guy who can paint [the future] like Isaac.

Keep in mind that we are 3 episodes deep into a 13 episode arc and the titular 'Villains' haven't really got much [or any] play yet. I'm talking of [Maury] Parkman, Lindeman, Kensei / Monroe et al.

Sylar is a fun character, I don't need for him to be sinister to enjoy the show....Season one was great but the worst thing they could do is the same sort of thing again. - I think they need to give the time travel aspects a bit of a rest.

Hmm, How did Future Claire kill future Peter? - Peter is as Immortal, like the highlander :)  Unless something happened in the missing 4 years but they certainly didn't explain it, unless I missed something.

He's died several times onscreen and ALWAYS bounced back...

EDIT: Nevermind, I'd forgot the haitian was there!

Who's got a crackpot Mohinder theory? i'm betting he's either become Mohinder the lizard for real or something akin to Uluru :)

Funny that Sylar is finally normal when the rest of the world is so messed up.

Didn't Past Peter push past the Haitian on his way to running away from Future Claire?  Even if that was the case, wouldn't Future Peter's wounds heal as soon as the Haitian got too far away?

And I used to like Future Peter.  We'll one of them.  The one from the first season, namely, when we got a glimpse of his full potentianal in his battle against Future Sylar/Nathan.  Poor guy though, always having that scar...  Wonder when he'll get it, because it looks pretty unavoidable.

EDIT: Of course, as soon as I "Reply with Quote" you change it and make me look like an idiot.  My point of him still being able to heal still stands, as Claire died in the first season for a while until they took the stick out of her skull.

That is a very good point, seems like they'd need to keep the Haitian next to him all the time, or cut off his head, oor something along those lines. It has always been very interesting how Peter has the scar, has to be something pretty unique for it not to have healed.

Why not just leave the bullet in his head?  Claire was dead until the stick was removed, so I see no reason to believe that future Peter won't be dead until the bullet is removed.  And they have no reason to remove the bullet.

Not really something that bothered me but on top of all that Sylar should have survived the explosion too. Wonder why we never saw him after that - I'd have thought he'd look out for his bro'. And surely want revenge for what happened to Noah.

EDIT: Of course, as soon as I "Reply with Quote" you change it and make me look like an idiot.

Oh, Sorry about that :)

Can't believe i didn't put 2 and 2 together. Bennet is standing talking to the Haitian about Sylar - He tells him that he's going to find Sylar's weakness, and then kill him. He's talking to his weakness - the Haitian could render sylar powerless long enough for bennet to put a bullet in his brain!

So, am I the only one who feels that Heroes has jumped the shark in a bad way?

Not only is the story line failing, but aggravatingly, so many threads from last season seem to have just been forgotten or ignored this season. I guess the writers strike could be blamed for it, but it feels like lazy story telling to me. Heroes always has kept a lot of balls in the air at one time, but in season one they did a good of bringing each story to a close, season two left a lot of gaps, and season three has yet to comment on them, it feel like the writers have already grown bored with them and decided to move on.

Glad to see Malcom McDowell back on the show though, though his role is pretty small, feels like they just wanted to squeeze him back on the show and so wrote in a part for him. Which is fine with me, as he is awesome.
