Lucasfilm is suing Gen Con over issues with Celebration IV! While the case is stamped January 10th, this is the first I've heard anything about it. You can read the full complaint but here are the allegations.

1. Gen Con failed to uphold its legal obligations in terms of financial reporting, accounting and payments to Lucasfilm ($500,000 in damages)
2. Gen Con did not give auction proceeds to Make-A-Wish as they had agreed to do ($150,000 in damages)
3. Gen Con did not give Lucasfilm their share of the auction proceeds ($150,000 in damages)
4. Gen Con did this all unjustly ($150,000 in damages)

TF.N has an update which states that Gen Con has filed for bankrupcy.

They filed chapter 11 so that they could stay in business while stuff like the Lucasfilm lawsuit and their other "one-time" cons are phased out. Apparently they want to stick to just the Gen Con cons. Look for C5 to be somewhere other than LA.

How would that make a difference? C2, C3, and C4 were all done by Gen Con. Obviously if they're in chapter 11, LFL isn't likely to go with them, but that doesn't mean some other large scale convention handlers couldn't pick it up (*cough* Comic Con *cough*) and that doesn't mean it has to move.

From what I've read and heard, C4 was actually the most organized of all the Celebrations. I don't give credit to Gen Con though, I give credit to the fans. Gen Con finally listened and decided to do what the fans were telling them. Whoever ends up picking it up needs to do the same thing.

Don't count on Gen Con having anything to do with the next Celebration. LFL is trying to get out of the contract they signed with Gen Con for multiple Celebrations at the LA Convention Center. By serving them this lawsuit citing that Gen Con didn't hold up their end of the deal at CIV, LFL is leveraging to get someone else to take over and run Celebrations from now on and most likely move it to another US city. I know this because I have friends who are in constant direct contact with Mary Franklin and Steve Sansweet.

So are the allegations true then? Or is it just some bullshit that LFL has brought up to get Gen Con to release them from the contract? It would not surprise me at all if it was just a bunch of bullshit.

Someone apparently didn't wish to receive the money...

<span class=“Italics”>MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
