I must say I found it funny that Lady in the Water only mustered US$18.2M at the B.O. this past weekend being trounced by his former studio's POTC II at nearly double the take even after 16 days in release.

Funny but not really surprising. Lady in the Water, at least IMO, is a stupid idea to begin with. You could argue the same about a sequel to a movie based on a theme-park ride, but it's already proven itself with the first installment. Emnyte's work has just been going down hill, with Village and Lady apparently (as I have seen neither) totally sucking. And he's gotten so full of himself.

Never believe your own hype.

After seeing "Lady in the Water", you may now add me to the list of people that hate M. Night Ramalamadingdong. I vow that from this day forward I will never watch another one of his movies ever again. What a waste of celluloid.

OK I'm a big fan of M Night and his movies, but after seeing Lady in the Water this monday night, I feel like I want to PUNCH him in the nose. Come on! What was that?! A movie that looks like it was written and directed by a 7 year old kid! He CAN do better than this... When I read the reviews for Signs and The Village, they were all negative reviews, and still I enjoyed both films (Village was predictable, but at least it was well directed and acted), so I figured that would be the case again... Seriously, I was expecting a "directed by Alan Smithee" at the end, because the only possible explanation was the studio taking the movie from him in mid-production... Let's just hope he recovers and do a decent movie next... if he ever films anything again, that is...

M. Night Shyamalammamon probably would never want to direct a Harry Potter movie. I'm guessing that he's too arrogant to do a story of someone else's devising. Unless he's suddenly become desperate.

You sure about that, TipTup? I heard he was thinking about directing a movie based on the Nickelodeon show "Avatar".

Of course that may have been a baseless rumor, so you may be right.

In an Entertainment Weekly interview that I read of him, he clearly expressed his disdain for directing any stories that are already known to the world. In simple terms, I'm guessing he likes his gimmicky story twists and tricking people.

Oh, I hope that's just a rumor. He doesn't need to put his special touches on Avatar.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

At least 10-15 bombs. Maybe he should hire Ben Affleck to be in his next film, that will surely bomb bigger than Heaven's gate! The gaurantee with the next film is that lady in the water was better than this film.

On a second note: the "twist" in this ending for his next film will be that there wasn't a disaster or a twist.

In a shocking twist of events, M. Night will helm a new thriller.

The story is about a family on the run from a natural crisis that presents a large-scale threat to humanity.

The crisis turns out to be the world wide release of an M. Night Shyamalan movie. Ironic.

At least as many as Joel Schumacher plus one. Apparently you can make nothing but bombs for a decade and still get new directing gigs.

Ugh! How many of this type of movie do we really need? Hasn't it been done to death by Stephen King and many others?

Am I the only one that doesn't hate M. Night Shamalhamdam? I mean sure he comes of as a sactumoneous prick at times, and his movies can be pretentious and are probably overrated. But I'd still rather watch anything he does over 75% of the shit Hollywood pumps out these days (Stephen Sommers, Paul WS Anderson, Wiseman, Ratner, the Scary Movie creators, ect.).
