Also, there appears to be an ordinance in that city that prohibits skateboarding. So yeah, maybe there are murderers, rapists, and drug dealers around, but that cop is patrolling that area and those kids were clearly violating a local ordinance.

Sieg Heil.

Oh, so it's ok to violate the law if you don't like it? Well then, I'll just come over there and take all your belongings. What's that you say? That's not fair? Who said anything about fair?

Did the arresting officer perform his job appropriately?

nope. It is never appropriate for a barbaric animal to strangle to kids. He could have seriously injured them or killed them.

It is appropriate. Neither you nor I know what those kids really might have had for one. For another, as Ferris said, he wasn't strangling them. I grabbed them around the neck and back in order to get them on the ground. If those officers showed up on my front door with my kids, I'd first thank the officers and then give my kid a nice grounding. He'd probably be grounded for at least 3 months. No tv, phone, skateboard, computer (except for school work), or anything. The child would spend less than 24 hours in jail, but he'd spend the next 3 months in his home prison.

Even if you think the cop is wrong, you stop and take your complaint before a judge. If you're in the right, you'll be vindicated.

ha! tell that to Rodney King! What kind of fantasy world are you living in? Courts don't always make the right decisions.

You mean this Rodney King? The one who was awarded $3.8 million for the beating? The one who, even though the article doesn't mention it, was high on PCP at the time. Seriously, watch that video. There's no way you'd even be able to move if you weren't high on PCP. This is the same Rodney King that already had a criminal record at that time. And he had been in a high speed chase leading up to that incident. $3.8 million sounds like a pretty high level of vindication to me, even though I don't think he deserved a dime. You do know that if he had just laid still they would have stopped hitting him.
