Wow, there are a lot of spoilers out there for this season already. I haven't looked at them myself, but it seems like you can find information on most major plot twists. It looks like there are a lot of ticked off workers (caterers, set builders, etc.) who ran out of work prematurely due to the writer's strike and don't feel any shame in sharing sworn secrets, even if they were in their contract. After the leak of last seasons finale plot twists, they said they are going to tighten up security so that nothing gets out. They also said they would be given a lot of misdirections, and leaking "spoilers" that were 100% fake. I wonder if the vast quantity of spoilers out there right now are intentional fake spoilers, or if the writers strike and pissed off laid off workers has foiled the whole plan. I honestly don't remember there being so many spoilers floating around during season three.

well it was a season opener that delivered i guess. I agree it's on par with some of the better stuff and after a weak third season the show might become as good as it was back at the start.

The death of naomi did seem a little silly. At least it will keep me entertained for 8 weeks worth of WGA strike

You think the strike has eight weeks left? It has already been a three month long strike, that would put her up to five months. Nearly half a year. I am expecting it to be over within the next week. But you never know.

No i mean in 8 weeks I need to find another show unaffected by the strike. Or 7 rather.

If it gets resolved soon, there is a pretty good chance they could start filming Lost again right away without much of a gap between episodes 8 and 9. Everybody is out of work with nothing to do at the moment, it is in everyones best interest to hit the ground running. A few of the actors have said that if the strike is resolved early in Feburary then there is no reason not to start filming again.

Carlton Cuse has said that there will be a maximum of five more episodes, making a total of thirteen for the season. He said the remaining season 4 story arc would be compressed into four or five episodes, and the three missing episodes and flashback would be carried over to season five. So at least we will get a season finale and the story arc wrapped up. I kind of like the three season of sixteen episodes, now it looks like it'll be 13, 19, 16 for seasons four, five, and six. Oh well. This could change though, just a couple of days before Cuse announced only four to five more episodes, Lindeloff had said that they might be able to finish all eight. So it seems to change everyday, but as far as I know, a maximum of five was the latest count. Sounds like they are going to try to have episode nine ready to air the week after episode eight. That'll be nice, but I hope they don't hurt the episodes quality by rushing the filming.

The strike is officially over. And there was much rejoicing.

Nice Monty Python reference.

I hope they do all eight, but five sounds fine. What I really care about is that we see the entire season four storyline, which we are. And BTW, in the interview I read (w/TV guide) Cuse said they wouldn't have a new episode until three or four weeks after episode eight, since they have to bring the whole cast back together, write the episode, shoot, edit, etc.

Man, it seems like everyday there is something different reported. Today I heard that they are going to end the current run at episode 7 rather than 8 as originally planned, then air episodes 8 - 13 in April. Not really a big deal, less than a month's wait, which is pretty good considering that for a long time we were worried there would be no more episodes beyond these eight until 2009. Kind of stinks though now that we have to wait longer to see episode 8. I am really looking forward to that one. Wish it was a two hour episode though, don't see how they'll adaquately tell the story that is to be told in that episode in just 42 minutes. Oh well, we will see.

Looking forward to tomorrows episode, I think the show is really making a come back. Season three was pretty rough, but I am not expecting too many dull episodes for this season, but that is yet to be seen. The show is kind of frustraiting to watch only one episode per week. Kind of like reading a page turner and being forced to only read a chapter at a time when you really want to knock out at least two or three chapters before turning off the light and calling it a night. It is truely a show that was meant for DVD.

Other than having read about Confirmed Dead before it aired, I like to stay spoiler free myself. I have read the names of each of the eight episodes and who each epsiode is centric on, which is why I am really looking forward to episode eight, but other than the names and centricity I know nothing about them.

Well, I was just watching the rerun from last week before this week's episode and ABC Chicago interrupted the last 5 minutes with news of the NIU shootings - quick, before the new one starts, what'd I miss?

I don't think you missed anything important. Probably just the part where they decide they need to kill Ben, but Ben tells them they can't kill him because they need him for answers, then he tells them the full names of the four new comers to the island. Ben says that the reason why he knows these things is because he has a spy on the freighter. Meanwhile Kate, Jack, Syid, and Juliet are with the new comers and they discover that Juliet was not on flight 815 and Miles pulls a picture of Ben out of his pocket and asks where he is, and that the real reason they have come to the island was to collect Benjamin Linus. Interesting thing about the picture is that in it he looks like he is in an off island office dressed in clothes I would estimate to be from the 70s or 80s. The little pop up text box at the bottom of the screen admits that this photo seems to indicate that Ben has been lying about never having left the island during his adult life.

It is kind of cool. They give some interesting information that doesn't show up in the episode. For instant at the beginning of Confirmed Dead we see Daniel watching the news and crying and a woman in the background asks him what is wrong, the pop up box tells us that the woman is not his wife but his care taker. Not really anything big, but kind of informative. It seems they are mostly for the benefit of new comers to the show, because they explain many things we already know, like Locke's dad stealing his kidney.

And so ends another episode...

I swear, a lot more use to take place during these episodes. The story telling is so slowly paced, each episode it feels like absolutely nothing happens. In one episode of Stat Trek the whole of man kind can be threatened but the issue gets resolved before the credits roll. Hard to believe that each episode of Lost is pretty close to the same length of an episode of Star Trek, yet it feels like less than half the length.

Anyway, an interesting spin at the end of the episode. Maybe the same thing also has to do with Jack's conversation with Hurley and his concern of whether or not Hurley was going to say anything.

I like the pacing of the show just fine when it catches your interest and plays around with you (like tonight's episode did), I just wish I didn't have to wait so long to see more when I feel like not much has happened. The show's episodes could be two hours a piece and I'd be happy (assuming I had time to section off two hours of my life every Thursday evening).

Tonights episode started out very interesting and then immediately slowed quite a lot, but then ended with another highly interesting moment. I liked it.

Not a whole lot happened in that episode, but what did happen was some pretty big stuff. The thing with Ben off island at the end was pretty cool. Seems like Syid is being forced to work for him to protect the people who are still on the island. Maybe it is Syid that is in the coffin the the season 3 finale. It could explain why that person's death was reported in a news paper that would be available on an international flight, rather than an obituary in the local paper, since he was a celebrity. It could explain Jack's huge breakdown about it, and it could explain Kate's discust about Jack having wanted her to go to the funeral, since she knew what he had been doing over the last few years. Perhaps Ben plays a large role in the lives of all the off island survivors. A sort of soul sold to the devil sort of thing, as part of their agreement to be able to leave. Sometimes I start to think that the freighter may not play that big of a role in their rescue, as we are lead to believe. All this is just speculation and not based off of anything other than last night's twist.

I find it interesting that the guy on the boat's name is Minkowski. That is the name of a mathematician who thought up a description of space based on Einstein's theory of relativity with the central idea being something called a light cone. If you are in a frame of reference that is moving very close to the speed of light (in comparison to another frame of reference) the "light cone" describes how the same light can move differently through different frames so long as you consider the time of one spatial frame as sitting differently over another spatial frame. It also helps better visualize the relative nature of simultaneity in the universe. That's why I was curious about the clocks used in Daniel's rocket, "payload" test. I didn't look to closely at the clocks and had to look them up on the internet later.

Essentially, the gal on the boat was getting a reading which told her that the rocket landed at its destination before her conversation with Daniel had even ended. He didn't see the rocket land until a long time afterwards, however, and its clock was faster than his by about a half hour. I'm not sure what this means for the show precisely, special relativity is a complicated subject and the show hasn't revealed much about how the island works yet, but it's obvious that time dilation is being strongly hinted at here. (The fact that people have to travel on and off the Island at a precise angle might also be a the result of some relativistic distortion.) How extreme time dilation and other effects could apply to an island that can be reached by air and sea from our earth seems rather silly to me, but perhaps the writers are smarter than I give them credit. I'm guessing it will be the typical, sci-fi-fudged version of physics. Perhaps in the end we'll find out that the Island intersects some sort of extremely weird gravitational phenomenon.

Yeah, it's like the island exist in a different spacetime bubble or something.
