If it comes to that, perhaps I can help. I'm also in the UK, running Procoder - I can do the encode along your guidelines if you send me the material in some sort of portable format (or bring it to me, if we're local!) Hope it doesn't come to that, but PM me if it does...

Mind you, why don't you just try using Window's System Restore to a point before you installed the crappy Divx software.

But please try everything else first. I've attempted to use System Restore on three occasions, and each time it made the situation remarkably worse, twice necessitating a reinstall of Windows. Maybe I'm just unlucky that way.

Like a lot have said I would be willing to help with an encode too. If needed I have a sculltrail setup with dual quad cores and 8gb of ram waiting to chew through ur material lol

I'm in Hertfordshire dunno about you.

Its cool to see so many people jumping in to help fix the encode problem. This is such a great project. i know this will get worked out, and no matter how long it takes it will be well worth it.

I'd be willing to wait till May ( the 31'st anniversary ) to see it, if it takes that long. Been trying to successfully convert the Xvid to dvd for some time now. The problem is the converter scales the image to NTSC resolution and wont antialias the picture. I have even tried to stream the Xvid to dvd with no change in resolution ( which gave me a perfect picture) but the only player of mine that will work with it is my VLC player. None of my other players ( including stand alone ) have the codecs to play back this conversion.

Hey my fellow Star Wars brothers and sisters. I am brand new to the forum, but have been watching this thread very closely for a few weeks now. I just got done watching the SAGA again, and I must say that when I got to Ep. IV, I was very dissapointed in the lack of flow from the PT. I enjoy the movie, but it is just such a jump back in time visually that I was really hoping Lucas would fix some of this stuff. Then I found this thread, and the work that ADYWAN has been doing. The clips I have seen are AMAZING, and exactly some of the things I had envisioned being fixed/added. ADYWAN, you rule man, thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I do a lot of music editing/recording, and I can relate on a smaller scale, just how tedious and insane a job like this would be!! Again, excellent work. I have a bunch of fellow Star Wars fans very excited about seeing this film.

Here is my question.......how the heck do I get this thing? I guess you are having problems with the DVD now, but I don't understand all of the torrent and seeding stuff? I cannot wait to see this film, PLEASE help a brother figure out how to download it, etc. Thanks and I can't wait for to see your work on ESB!!!

Oh by the way, I for one thought that the duel between Vader and Obiwan had to have that duel of fates song added to make it work, PERIOD!! The clip that I saw of that is PERFECT!!

why can't you guys get it the same way all the rest of us have?
you can get it by torrents, rapidshare and the newsgroups, that covers all 3 bases, just take your pick and go with it,no need to wait for a handout when all these options are still WIDELY available.

All of us can get these release's quit easily, so why don't you? Maybe you have to try and use one of the three way's to get it. In my opion the easiest way is Utorrent and the fastest way is Usenet (use Grabit)

I agree... sure you have to dabble in the "Dark Side" of the internet, the side that most people don't know about, but there are some amazing things out there if you know where to look and how to get them.

I would like to thanks everyone for your help. i haven't resolved the issue yet but i'm hoping to soon. i really hope that i don't have to do a reinstall of windows xp though because i have too much stuff that i just can't back up (settings etc). my only other route at the moment is to buy a cheap hard drive, take out my C drive and install windows on this so i can at least get the encoding done. That will have to wait until the end of the month when we get paid though. hopefully it won't have to come to that.

To everyone that kindly PM'd me recently then i'm sorry but i haven't had a chance to reply as yet because of everything that is going on here, but i will reply as soon as possible.

I'm an idiot with this stuff.......so I go to Rapidshare, or Uttorent, and somehow find epIV revisited?.....and then I can download it? If I figure that much out, then I can burn it to a DVD-R, and it will be DVD quality? Thanks again!

All the links and info you need have been posted about a hundred times now, just go back a few pages and look for them.
If you want a DVD then just wait for it to be released, you could convert the avi but don't expect miracles qualitywise.

With Uttorrent, you first download the program, and then search for adywan's edit on the internet, the file starts to download (it's as easy as that, I was a newbie and I figured it out too)

I just had a marathon-reading experience, I read every page of this thread. Adywan, no matter what other comments you have gotten: I'm stunned by the good work. You did great.
Sure, some shots could've been enhanced and some edits aren't as popular as others. But they forget it's your edit, and you're doing this all by yourself. And it looks spectacular.
I haven't seen the entire movie yet (i'm gonna do that tonight) but the bits I have seen look great.
I'll probably watch this version twenty times to spot all the changes, and I'm glad to do it .

Keep up the excellent work on the other five films you're going to do .

I want to learn the ways of the Force and become a Jedi like my father.

Wow, you read this whole thread? I wish I had that kind of extra time. I looked the other day, and this is now the largest thread on the site (based on replies). Only about 6 thousand more posts and it will topple the DVD covers thread for views.

gavin77, I too am technologically challanged, but thankfully the people here helped me out. I downloaded Uttorent, then followed the link on the bottom of page 153 of this thread to find and downloaded the torrent of ANH revisited.

Once you download the torrent, double click on the torrent file and it should launch utorrent (if it's installed, as it should be) and then you can right click on the star wars revisited "task" inside utorrent to get it to "start" (or force start) and then just sit back and relax, and it'll eventually download the whole thing (and to "seed" it, just let it continue to run).

Of course give your firewall (if you have one) permissions for this application.

The file will appear in whatever folder you specified for downloads, on your hard drive.

Have you tried a good backup utility to save your settings? I'm told Norton Ghost is very good (I haven't used it myself though).

So I guess you won't have the DVDR done this weekend... bummer! In any case, good luck.

As for having your TV blow out, I'd suggest visiting your local library or university library (take along a pair of headphones of course!). Most libraries these days have televisions hooked up to DVD players (or else PC's that have DVD drives installed). This should allow you to run the movie and make sure it looks proper. Of course only the most sophisticated will have widescreen monitors/TVs, but some even let you check out a laptop for awhile and some of these have widescreen displays.
