Hey Ady!

I managed to watch the whole thing with sound (which took me a while to find)....and OMG! The whole production is amazing, and I truly consider this as Canon, I'll never have a Star Wars marathon without your edit (the 2004 DVD is dead for me as far as I'm concerned). I watched the whole saga, including your Edit of EpIV, and it all fits now, the gap between EpIII and IV is much clearer to see.

By the way will it be ok if I message you about the DVD version of your production, and when would be best (and what details would you want)? Thanks

Thanks again for the great achievement, and I'm sure you feel fulfilled

P.S - My cover art will be up sometime this month....I hope....I just need to iron it out

I watched this last night, and while I like most of it, I think I agree with others that the music additions to the saber duel (as well as the early briefing room scene) didn't sit well with me... however, as an editor and effects artist by trade, I appreciate the amount of work that went into this, so kudos there...

However, that's not why I registered to post... I didn't see this posted anywhere on these threads yet, but before you finish mastering this, you've got a several mistakes in the credits that should be fixed...

These timecodes are approximate, based on what my DVD player showed:
At 2:01:20, "Camera Operations" should be "Camera Operators"
At 2:01:34, "2nd until Photography" should be "2nd Unit Photography"
At 2:02:23, "Phil Tippet" should be "Phil Tippett"
At 2:02:36, "mechanical" should be capitalized in "Camera and Mechanical Design"
At 2:06:21, "Technocolor" should be "Technicolor"
At 2:06:31, "national" should be capitalized in "Tikal National Park"
At 2:06:33, "San Fransisco" should be "San Francisco"
At 2:06:36, "Smual Goldwyn" should be "Samuel Goldwyn"
At 2:06:39, "thannk" should be "thank"
At 2:06:31, "copyrite" should be "copyright"

Sorry - it's just the anal copyeditor in my background coming out...

In response to that, Ady, I know you had the credits locked but there's one rather major one that everyone seems to have missed: Rick McCallum's name is misspelt McAllum in your credits. If it's too late for the DVD5 at least redo them for the DVD9?

Wow. I think the only time I've watched the credits that close was when I was looking for my name.

I missed those three, nice catch. But I let Ady know about the rest of them a few pages ago, so at least we've got those covered.

Thanks for the list but thses have all been fixed thanks to a few members on the forum all except the first one. The "Camera Operations" wasn't a mistake. If you look at the DVD credits then it is " Operations" and not " operators"

Personally I think TECHNOcolor sounds a lot more exciting than technicolor

All the chatter concerning the xvid has really got me excited for the forthcoming DVD. Not sure I can wait, though. Would some kind soul PM me the rapidshare link? At least 'twill tide me over for a few weeks as I wait for the DVD-9. Put me down for the NTSC PIF chain - my burner does dual layer.

ok so I wanted to make a cover for this project. And of course I wanted to do something that would reflect and compliment the project that Adywan put togther. This is what I have come up with.

This is of course only a temp. You can't see a lot of the detail in this but I did more then just "cut and paste". But you get the idea.

Thanks again to OBtwosy for the dvd logos

I am so looking forward to watching this it is driving me crazy waiting lol. I'm holding out for the DVD9 though because I only want to see it in all it's glory. Hey Ady, what do you think the average bitrate will be on the DVD9 version? What is it for the DVD5's? It's really killing me waiting this long :-( It will be worth it judging by these though.

Those menus were way more than I was expecting Ady... very nice to see you tying them in with the official DVD menus. They look excellent.

I apologize for asking this if it has already been discussed (after almost 200 pages, I can't always remember every topic of convsersation), but will there be any difference in content (menus, extras, etc.) between the DVD-5 and DVD-9?

The menus will be the same for both the DVD-5 & DVD-9 versions. The DVD-9 will have some more special features than it's single layer counterpart

The DVD- average bitrate will be 400kbps for the DVD-5 with the DVD-9 coming in at around 6500 - 7000kbps but i'm using Procoder to encode the MPEG2 and the difference in picture quality between the 2 is hardly noticeable even on my 42" LCD

I'm loving those menus, Adywan.

That menu shot of Tarkin "watching" a scene from the film on the DS display( now THAT'S a big screen!) is perfectly indicative of your whole project; loaded with cleverness and caring attention to detail that somehow went right over the heads of Lucasfilm proper.

Those menus are nice. You made them, didn't you? I recall the 2004 Death Star menu being the landing bay. So it's cool to change it up like this.

Great looking menus, Ady. I'm really liking the image of Tarkin watching the big screen.

very nice my friend, very nice

@Ady - did you want folks with covers to get to them to you for DVD-ROM content? if so, feel free to PM an address to send them or whatever you'd like to do.

WOW - the menus are outstanding Ady. Talk about giving a project your all. I thought I was happy enough with just the DL'ed file but your continuing effort has me pumped to see the official DVD.

BTW there have been a bunch of cool looking covers posted in the last few pages and I just wanted to say nice job guys. I might even try doing one myself.

I have an interesting group of students for the week. Most of them have seen "A New Hope," but are obviously not what one might call _devoted_ fans. The latter were obvious at the moment of the Death Star reveal when there were audible gasps. I was sitting back, curious about what people would notice.

One person noticed that Beru Lars' voice was different from what he was used to.

Several noticed the needle on the interrogation droid.

The same group that gasped when the DS was revealed also marveled at the fact that Greedo could blink and had other facial features. They also liked the music during the light saber fight, and were again stunned by the graphics in the battle briefing and on the hologram table in the situation room.

I'm interpreting here, but their message to Adywan seems to be a heartfelt "Well done!" When I told one guy that this was actually the next-to-final version, that it was still a work in progress, he was amazed.

More for myself, and speaking for those of us in this thread, we're all [except for the occasional unwashed heathen] excited by your work, Adywan, and eager to see the DVDs.

MattMahdi, I'm intrigued - what kind of class do you teach where the subject matter is alternate versions of Star Wars?
