I think I like your cover best so far, OBtwosy. Nice work. I have no idea what the hell that other guy was talking about.

thanks Ron.

most of the DVD cover art I've seen for fan edits is not 'original art'.

I'm am totally curious as to what Ady is painting though.

Of course. What, a guy's gotta be Frank Frazetta before he can do a DVD cover?

Yes. Ady's will be what I use as the "official" cover, so as to maintain his vision of the complete package. But I think I'll print yours out as an alternate cover.

OK - so I just watched it again and think I saw him.

I'm probably wrong (so don't get your hopes up), but could this be him?

I believe Ady said he'd use a 70's shot of GL.

now, since I've not listed a specific scene or time, don't anyone go apoplectic on me for posting it as a link

OBtwosy... yes, I think that's George. Caught the same glimpse myself upon first viewing, but I wasn't sure.

ABD - can you PM me or edit your previous post so the image HTML is not there - I'm having issues with freeimagehosting.net and would rather not have that image floating around until I get it changed

thanks

Good job on the cover. I'm doing one for myself that I may or may not present. My view on "creating artwork" for something like this falls in line with what is done professionally. A certain amount of original work is done but after that, many, MANY posters and such are created using sections of that material. As long as, obviously, someone doesn't actually claim to have created the images used, I don't see a problem. Lots of people have images, even websites of images posted of "their work" using little more then creative arrangement of posters and fonts. Which again I don't have a problem with. What I don't like is the odd time when someone yells at someone for "using their design" when of course, it's not actually theirs to begin with.

Boba said "Using art freely available is one thing, lifting someone else's credits is entirely another." Could you further explain what you meant by this? Unless of course I simply missed a post where you further explained it. I'm just curious.

Boba's post included an image of a cover that was done for ADigitalMan's Ep4 edit, with the credits box at the bottom of the back panel highlighted for emphasis. It appears to be more or less identical to what OBtwosy used, with some modifications. I don't believe OB meant for that to be final, I get the impression it was just a temporary placeholder. He's mentioned that it's a work in progress and that he intends to replace that section.

As for covers, OLK was the first to post one right? I'd really like to see if that's gotten any further... I mean no offense to you other guys who have done covers so far, but his seemed the most impressive to me.

exactly. it's almost finished. apparently my boss thinks I should actually be doing real work, so I had to put it on hold for a while.
I have reworked it and will post it soon.

I did use sluggo's text description (tweaked ever so slightly) because I thought it was great.

Hopefully this will pass muster

I credited sluggo for his text.

if you can squint, you see the credits includes "Sir Alec Guinness" (knighted in 1959)
and includes "with James Earl Jones as the voice of Darth Vader"

a. because I wanted to make those changes
b. to further reassure folks that this is my doing - not borrowed

Man, this is going to be a tough decision. Either I go with Ady's ( when he finally shows us ) or I go with yours OBtowsky.

First you keep pestering Ady to find out when the project will be completed and now your chastising people because they didn't spoon feed you this piece of information. Give it a rest, man.
