Well, I guess I'll have to put myself down for this as well, if anyone is feeling charitable enough to PM me. But please, just tell me what general part of the film Lucas is in, I don't want it all spoiled.

OK - so I just watched it again and think I saw him.

I'm probably wrong (so don't get your hopes up), but could this be him?

I believe Ady said he'd use a 70's shot of GL.

now, since I've not listed a specific scene or time, don't anyone go apoplectic on me for posting it as a link

Here's my 'work in progress' of a cover for REVISITED. I'm still tweaking it but would welcome constructive input.
I've always loved the poster that I used for the front face.
props to sluggo for the back text

EDIT: credits section was borrowed. I am now redesigning that section

Not me.

Heheh. I'm breaking the chain. I wanna find the Flanneled One on my own.

Anyway, just finished watching it with my dad, and he thought that for a fanwork, it was pretty good. His favorite part was the extended Death Star battle. He didn't notice that Chewie got a medal till I told him to look at Chewie.

I, however, was much more enthused by what I saw. I really liked:
- the opening battle.
- the escape pod entering the Tatooine atmosphere.
- the new "sandcrawler cresting the dune" shot.
- the battle droid sitting in the sandcrawler.
- hearing Beru's old voice for the first time; first time I ever heard it!
- the re-editing of the scene in Ben's hut flowed much better (me and Dad agreed on this).
- the new Alderaanian explosion ROCKED!
- the sounds of Chewie cracking skulls in the Falcon on the Death Star was good, addressing the idea of there being no blaster marks on the walls.
- the new work done to the Obi/Vader battle. I thought it a tad dodgy to add Battle of the Heroes to the scene, but I think it worked well.
- the new TIE battle with the Falcon, and the hyperspace wormhole in the following scene.
- the new Death Star hologram, and the displays on the screen with it.
- the whole Death Star battle! The new holograms were cool and seamlessly integrated. The additions into the background really fleshed the battle out, IMO, Luke calling out Biggs' name (where'd you get that sound clip from?) and the new explosion, complete with unfired shot, really made the victory much closer. I actually waxed Lando Calrissian: "That was too close."
- and, of course, Chewie getting his medal.

One or two little gripes, though: in the new "Your powers are weak" shot, Vader's chestplate slides a little. I realize that this is the evidence of having flipped it, but don't sweat too much over it; I wouldn't notice it if I wasn't looking for it.

Also, and I blame myself for this, but my name isn't in the credits. I know it's a hassle, so don't put my name in the credits unless you really feel you have to. I mean, you already locked the credits, as you've said. I don't wanna make finishing this beast any harder. I can always have my name put in on the next one.

Everything else that I was concerned over (the severed arm, for instance) has already been addressed for the DVD release.

On the whole, though, I'd like to say that this is likely the only version I'll show my family when I have kids of my own. I'll show them the originals if they ask to see it, so I'll still hold onto my 2006 DVDs just in case.

My congratulations to you, Adywan, for making my Definitive Edition of Star Wars - Episode IV: A New Hope!

EDIT: Just in case you do decide to put my name in, Ady, I'd like to be listed as Michael "Amras Felagund" Lloyd.

Not that I'm asking you to add my name to the credits; it's something optional that I'd really like to see. You don't have to put my name in if it'll be too much of a hassle, or it will be too frustrating. I understand that I missed my window, but I would really like to show my kids in the vague future, "Look, see? Daddy's name is in the credits of a Star Wars movie!" Again, only do it if you want to, not if you feel you have to. I'm sure I'll draw a lot of heat for making this request so late in the game, but still...I don't want to make this harder for you, pal. I'll understand if you ignore this small request.

And may the Force be with you...always.

Here's some constructive criticism: Why don't you start from scratch instead of cannibalizing somebody else's design.

Well, I figure its time to make my statement of applause. I now have 1 out of the 6 Star Wars movies in the perfect DVD collection I intend to put together. There were only things that bugged me. One was Buru's voice change, I may just not be used to it though so I'll give that one time, the second was the missing line "yea, get it out of here" that Luke says when the Jawa's take away the droid (though really it doesn't make the movie worse, I just wonder why it was gone), and third was the music during the lightsaber fight.

The complaint is simply that I didn't think the music was quite loud enough. I don't think it needed to be much louder, but I thought sometimes it just didn't come across as epic as it should have. However, that said it did have me jumping up and down on my couch punching the air shouting "get him Obi, get him!", so despite my small issue with it, I must say I approve highly of the overall choice.

Lastly, I must squawk like a parrot and say I love this edit, because you have restored a movie that I grew up on in a way I had begun to fear would never be possible.

Thank You Adywan.

ADY you magnificent basterd. I love and hate this edit. You have done things to it that make me cringe and applaud at the same time. I love the new Death Star Battle. So much more epic now. I can't believe Lucas didn't do it. And now, finally, Chewie gets a medal! Fantastic. Not sure about the music behind the Lightsaber battle now, but I see and understand what you wanted to accomplish. And I applaud your efforts. Job well done. Can't wait for the DVD9 and ESB and ROTJ.

EDIT: What is the ETA on a DVD5 and DVD9 NTSC version? And if this took you 2 years to make, will it take the same for ESB and ROTJ? After watching Star Wars, the anticipation will be high.

I never got to see the Alderaan footage with Bail and Jar Jar, does anyone have a link to this, Id love to see it.

So. Is it too soon to start postinf our ideas for Empire and Jedi?

I did too, but I'm pretty sure it was meant as a joke. Leaving it in would really disrupt the flow of that scene. But I believe Ady said it would be included in the bonus material on the DL disc.

The extra Alderaan footage had to go because of what Obi-Wan said: "..million voices suddenly cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced". With the new footage it prolonged the destruction too much so had to go. There will be an new extended version on the DL DVd though

Still struggling with getting a decent pic of the hand for the cantina shot though and the menus are taking longer than i though but it won't be too far away

apart from the text on the back (credited to sluggo) , all the images are readily found on the internet - unless you mean the overall layout

the back small graphics were made available by Ady, the front cover is, as I said, the movie poster, back Vader is from the 30th ann. CD artwork.

i suppose a cannibalized cover for a cannibalized movie is fitting

regardless - I'll use it for myself and not make it otherwise available.

thanks boba! :/

@ ADY: I'm using cannibalized in the best sense of the word for your edit - I think it truly magnificent
