not sure if the dts on the japan superbit is the same as on the laserdisc.
sometimes dvd's get new dts mixes when their were theatrical dts mixes examples such as tomorrow never dies and goldeneye.
i know the japan dvd supposedly is full bitrate dts how they fit that on dvd is beyond me since they only have 8.5 gb.
i believe years ago circuit city and other stores had the laserdisc as a showcase title in stores to sell dts to its customers. i remember it sounded amazing, but i could not afford the then couple thousand dollars worth of audio equipment.
it was also released on laserdisc in thx sound in both dolby digital and dts flavors under the lucasfilm thx laserdisc program. i know jurassic park was universal but since lucas is spielbergs friend a lot of his films were released under the thx laserdisc banner.
who knows when jurassic park will hit blu ray or HD-dvd. i'm hoping blu ray with the theatrical dolby in full bitrate pcm, probably wishful thinking since universal supports HD-DVD right?
and in response to goodmusician all the dvd releases of jurassic park, at least in north america leave a lot to be desired. too bad the japan superbit is near impossible to find and sold out everywhere fetching 90.00 plus on ebay.
i tried to find a copy for myself being a fan of the novel more than the movie, though i liked the first movie and was dissapointed with the sequel novel and expecially the film which deviated completely from the novel. never mind the third movie which has no novel basis and not directed by spielberg and re-using john williams music from the first 2 movies directed by joe johnston had fail written all over it. for the love of god i hope 4 never happens.
lets face it joe johnston was a brilliant visual designer/illustrator/storyboard artist on the star wars trilogy circa 1977-1983 but sucks as a director. jumanji anyone?, indian in the cupboard was okay but the concept was childish and frankly silly, miniature darth vader toy comes to life, lol, was the best part.
i wish a expanded cd release had been released for jp 1 but at least i have my 1 disc cd. the music is the best part of jp the movie it is truly great.
