What else can I say but... who exactly is that?

And going back to paper guides vs. internet guides, YouTube blows them both out of the water. I came home for the weekend and was bored out of my mind, so I'd been playing Mario Kart 64 all weekend. Eventually, I'd done all I could do with that and switched over to a game I hadn't played in nearly a decade: Diddy Kong Racing. I stopped playing it because I could never beat Wizpig, and it just got too frustrating. I tried several times and was about to give up when I went to YouTube and found a video of a guy beating it. After that, it was easy, and I managed to finally beat that game!

Wow, I would not have even thought of YouTube for guides. I can see it being very useful for beating a specific boss.

Yeah, I've actually seen entire walkthroughs for games on YouTube before, divided up into about 80 or 90 different videos. Of course, it's not really telling you what to do... you just see someone else do it. But that can be much more helpful sometimes than just reading about it. I can't tell you how many times I've read dozens of strategy guides in both print and online to do some super secret obscure sidequest and having no idea what they were talking about because it just wasn't described as well as it needed to be. Being able to see it really does help, although if you consider strategy guides to be cheating, this is probably on an even more advanced level of cheating.

Oh, and thanks for the pic, sean. I haven't played Pokemon since Yellow, so all these new ones escape me.

Back in my day we didn't have this 250 Pokemon nonsense, nor did we have school buses. We had to walk to school, uphill, bothways! In knee deep snow!! And all we had to look forward to at the end of the day was the possibility of going home and catching all 15 Pokemon. 15 might not seem like a lot to you kids these days, but 15 was plenty for us...

I hardly read walkthrough guides anymore, youtube pretty much saves my day and any help I need gamewise.

Wow! That is a retardedly huge number. Last I heard their were 150, I knew there were some new ones but I thought my guess of 250 was probably a high estimate.

How does that game even make sense? Are they suppose to be on earth? Or is it some other planet? Or is it an alternative reality? Do they have real animals in this world, like as in the kind you eat and raise as lifestock? How is it that they are able to squeeze into a tiny ball? Can more than one fit in a ball? Are they magic balls? Or do they employ some sort of shrinking technology? Can a person or object be shrunk and stored inside one of these balls? Does the ball suspend time? Or does the creature continue to experience time while inside? If he does can he starve to death inside the ball? What if you lost one of these balls with the creature inside and it was not found for 100 years, would it rot away in the ball? When you open it would a mess of crumbling bones fall out? Or would it come out as if it had just been put inside moments before, none the wiser of the time that has lapsed? Can they starve to death in the ball? Are there pokemon's rights activist who think keeping the creatures trapped in such confined spaces and letting them out only to fight is cruel and go around sloshing the owners with red paint? Can pokemon die? Can you make them fight to the death? Or do they only get knocked out? What was the guy who made the game smoking when he made it? You can't really answer any of these can you?

Each game takes place in a different country. I assume they eat Pokemon. Pokemon are made out of nuts. The man that made it is a genius because he has more money than any of us can dream of. Each Pokeball has a Mini bar inside and a TV where they can keep up with Pokemon news and watch Pokemon pornography.

My favorite strategy guides are my two for Lunar 1 and Lunar 2, which are pretty much my favorite RPGs. Any guide by Working Designs is good. It's chock-full of non-game errata and info.

Exploit Station is your source for the PS2 Independence Exploit.

@C3PX - Yep, I use PGen and SNES Station. Only had minor errors with most games. I have a thick PS2, so I can boot the exploit using an exploited memory card and a PS1 disc. I load games through a flash drive. I haven't tried using the exploit for backups, though you are supposed to be able to use it for that. Even before I loaded the exploit, though, I was able to get some DVD-R burnt movies to play correctly. Few and far between though.

I'm not one to ever buy strategy guides. But I considered buying the Mario Galaxy strategy guide early on because I thought I'd never figure out most of the secret stars and such. I thought it might be one of those games where it's almost impossible to find everything without consulting either the internet or a guide. I guess I was wrong.

I popped in my GC copy of Sonic Mega Collection the other day and realized that I had never played Sonic 3 or Sonic and Knuckles before. So after quickly playing through the first two games, I decided to give them a try. Much to my surprise, they both seem a lot different than the first two. The first thing I noticed was that "better graphics" in these two games usually meant "more detailed". I personally loved the simplicity in the graphics of the first two games and in my mind they actually look better than the pixel-fest that is Sonic 3. Knuckles is a better game I think, but I'm only about half way through either one. They are both definitely harder and more challenging than 1 and 2 combined.

Matrix and Pirates of the Caribbean have extremely different fanbases. I can see Matrix fans not going for a lame online game, but Pirates fans range from young kids to obssessive middle aged women. I can see the Pirates fan base (you know, the ones that go to Disneyland dressed up like Jack Sparrow and other Pirates) being the type to eat up an online game hook, line, and sinker.

Geno and Krystal? Yeah, that seems really friggin unlikely. Geno is obscure and Krystal sucks. Falco is unlikely unless he's completely revamped, and if Bowser Jr. is in this game, I will punch a wall. There's no way Bowser Jr. deserves to be in the game more than any of the elder Koopalings.

Yeah, when I saw Ness's name on the list I was about to be so happy since I'd heard so many rumors that Lucas was completely replacing him. But then I noticed Geno on the end of the list, and I just don't buy it. It'd be nice, but I somehow doubt it. Did you get this from SSBB Dojo?

Nope. I'm guessing 4Chan.

No, it's not up there.

Though Ness, JigglyPuff, and Lucario have been confirmed, accidentally, by Nintendo of America. Geno, Krystal, Ridley, Falco, Game and Watch, Ganondorf, Bowser Jr, Black Shadow, Marth, Midna and Mewtwo, however, have yet to be confirmed.

I guess I could be wrong on this, but I would think they would play it safe and keep all the old characters. People tend to get attacked to a particular character, with the first two games they only added more, they didn't take any away. Even a character as lame as Jigglypuff was put into Melee. Again, I may be completely off on this, but I think they will stick to adding characters rather than replacing.

Yeah, that's my thoughts on it, but I'd read for a long while that it was their original intention to replace Ness with Lucas for Melee and only didn't because they ran out of time. So I figured, with that information, Ness was doomed for a third game.

Actually, if you could use the Sleep attack well, Jigglypuff was one of the best characters. Most people just didn't use her (it?) because of looks.

Also, I didn't know until I checked the official site just now that Captain Olimar + Pikmin was going to be a playable character. Awesome!

I find myself playing a lot more older games than newer games. I guess I really like to revisit the past. The games I have installed on my computer are: Red Alert 2, Half-Life, Metal Gear Solid, and a little gem called SpaceTripper. If you looked in my games folder and didn't know any better you would think the date was some where in the late ninties. Since I got my PS2 and GameCube I have been exposed to a lot of new games, which has been fun. However, the other day I stumbled across Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes for the GC and decided it was worth laying down a bit of money for. I haven't had much chance to play it yet though. But how great is that, a SE version of MGS with GC style graphics (PSX graphics really haven't aged well, give me an SNES or an N64 anyday of the week!). It seems mostly the same, but it has been a while since I played the old version. One thing I don't like is that they redid all the voice acting, with the exact same actors??? I feel the delivery of the voice acting was better in the original, and the 2D animation for the intro briefing videos was cooler than the redone ones which use the 3D models. It is nice revisiting an old classic on a new system. I would have never thought I'd ever play MGS on a Nintendo system.

Hmm, I also just noticed that there is a character named Snake on the possibly fake "Final Roster for Brawl". Would that be Snake as in the Metal Gear games? MG isn't even close to being a Nintendo property. Sure, the first one and the non-canonical second one were released for the NES and there has been the remake for the GC and a Gameboy game, but it still doesn't feel like he belong in a game where he fights against Mario and Link using pokeballs and star wands. He would also be the only character from an M rated game.
