Frendon, the colour issues you mention are a major problem with the 2004 DVD's. the blue cast that was added, while it was said it was creative decision to give it the colour feel of more modern movies, was in fact a way of hiding a lot of colour problems with the transfer. Some colours in the blue & green spectrum no longer existed. Not only were the colours of some of the cockpits gone but also wedges helmet was no longer green and became black & white, noticeable even with the blue cast. i had to make a decision: do i keep the blue cast, which was something i REALLY hated or remove it and just have the cockpits during the trench run (mainly the xwings) desaturated. well i went with removing the colour casting ( i did manage to recolour wedges helmet to green though).because there was no colour information other than the blue cast in those areas i just had to put up with the colourless sections. i did try overlaying the GOUT to recover some of the missing colour but then noticed that even in that transfer the cockpits were desaturated in some shots, so it became a waste of time going ahead with this process only to have a few shots stick out like a sore thumb.
With the interior of the death star i wanted to eliminate the horrible over saturated blue in the 2004 transfer and to be more battleship grey. only the blue colouring of the walls was removed & all other colour remains. Looking at the 1997 SE it looks like the first stages of oversaturated colours and blue cast were present in that.

Now onto pondas arm. i can see a case for both sides. you could say that it should be the human arm on the floor because ponda doesn't draw his gun quick enough but i have just viewed the original footage and the behind the magic cut of the cantina and noticed something. When Ben swings the saber, he doesn't slice the human arm . He hits doctor evazan in the chest and he falls. so no arm severed. whereas in the lost cut footage ponda is standing next to him and you see him fall with the arm lying next to him. so it looks like he got caught up in swings of the saber just as he is drawing his saber. Caused a bit of a dilemma what to do with this one now.
