I just did a report for it on Newzbin and added this thread as the "More info" link. Should be getting some traffic from the Usenet crowd.

Ok, I just got access to the news group files. Man I 'm glad this Xvid version is not that big. I will help seed a torrent when I have all the parts.

Can anyone post an idiot's guide to downloading this?

There are 128 parts all together, not including the par2 files, and it's on part 84 now. Reporting 2.5 hours left to go.

for those who are new to usenet i would suggest getting quickpar from here:
quickpar downlaod - freeware

install this and then once you have all the rar files & a couple of the par2 files (you probably won't need all of them so just get 2) open any one of the par2 files with quickpar and it will scan the rars for incompletes. If, for any reason it reports as incomplete then quickpar can repair the damaged files. It will tell you how many blocks you need to be able to recover if you don't have enough, so just download a few extra & open up the par file again. If you still don't have enough then repeat this until it reports that it is ready to repair, & click the repair button. once this is done you can unpack the rars without problem. There should be plenty of par2 files to reapir if needed but if anyone does have a problem i can always post some extra.

If you look 7 posts up from you, darkhelmet posted some usefull links with what you need to know.

Also, anyone that is going to torrent this then if you torrent the whole rar set as they are then anyone else that has downloaded this from usenet would be able to help seed

I have 19 pieces so far. Hope to have the whole thing in a hour or so.

Sorry Sevb32, there is no one guide for all news readers. They do work the same in principle, but they all have different work flows. Heh, the one I use didn't come with any help files or instructions , but it was pretty easy to figure out.

ady this is awesome, just watched the 1st 10 mins

for all you usenet noobs, you can start watching before download completes by
checking box "keep broken files" in winrar (only available when you use "extract to" function)
fast forwarding etc. is not real smooth until file is complete
hope this helps those of you who can't bare to wait any longer

cheers

and good luck to all

Doing the same thing (unrar x -kb, if you use command-line unrar as I do)

MPlayer says the file has an AR of 1.25:1, don't ask, but giving it the -noaspect switch helps.

How does it look? I'm waiting till I have everything before I watch it.

Exactly as would be expected. Window's a tad small, but that's because I'm viewing it on a 17" screen at 1024x768. Picture is razor-sharp. Haven't checked for pixellation but I haven't seen any - I suppose though the Death Star battle would be the place to find it, if there is any.

Don't get too proud there, I work at a commercial theater. I have a commercial DLP projector I can easily play this through, on a 50 foot curved screen.

Well, then, when you're ready to do that, you'll obviously want the best source and no AVI will cut muster.

Yeah, I would preffer the best source ( the DVD-9 ). Our commercial projectors run at 2k but I think I can scale down to 1k for Ady's release. 1k should look acceptable I think, but I'm gonna have to talk to the tech about this.

lol! I'm not really going to play the Xvid on my projector: I'm going to run it thru the Xbox 360 - it upscales really nicely onto my telly.

Nearly there!

I'd kill just to AFFORD a projector.

109 down...19 to go?

Seeing as how at the theater I work at we can remove the wall between our two IMAX auditoriums and push their screens together to make one big screen, I'm going to be printing and running my own 6-track mag 70mm print of this, made from Ady's master AAE file (which is 9600x3240 res of course, in case none of you knew ). The problem is that the projectors for these auditoriums run only native IMAX, horizontal-run prints, and as I can only afford a regular ol' 70mm print (which runs vertically through a projector) my pals and I are going to have to lie on our sides on the floor of the theatre to watch it correctly. But we still expect it to rock!

(P.S. - I'm not making fun; I'm just excited like the rest of you and it's making me a little funny in the head I think )

LightWave = fun times with gfx for me 😃
