Another day or two? So be it. You're a mad, mad maniac of video editing genius, Ady! Thanks for all of your hard work and dedication.

Man, I hate to bug you, Ady, but maybe during a bit while the encoding is being done, could you put a list together of special features the DVD will have? I know the SL and the DL versions will be different. I'm trying to make covers for both.

why don't you just use the old chestnut "...Plus a few new surprises..."

Nice, But the white background does make it look kinda weird.

@Sluggo---Don't take this the wrong way, but as I was scrolling down to read the posts and came upon your cover, the top half made me immediately think of Mickey Mouse due to the placement of the circles in the top corners. I think it is because of the size, shape and position of them. Perhaps you can do something jagged or a different shape to throw off that perception.

It could be just because of of the scrolling that I perceived it that way, but I wanted to make sure that I mentioned it.

Please accept it as constructive criticism and just my perception. I do like the cover.

I didn't see that when I first looked at it. Now I can't not see it. Thanks JB!

Looking again it does appear that Vader's helmet does indeed have "Mickey" ears attached.

Personally I LOVE that cover Sluggo - way to go!

And congrats to AdyWan - been following this thread since it started. This is what the Special Editions SHOULD have been. I bet if Lucas ever see's this he'll fire ILM and hire Ady - hahaha!

Excellent work Sir - cannot wait to see this!

@Sluggo - WOW! Great cover - though the white is a bit... strange (?) Any way it could be black? I mean I know I could redo in Photoshop for my own copy - but if you're looking for suggestions. Alsso, while not thinking specifically of the Mouse, I too found the circles a bit strange.

Regardless - GREAT work! At this point your cover will be the one I use to house my copy!

How about making the white areas transparent using photoshop, and printing the cover onto waxed tracing paper (sort of rough milky white to those who havent seen a sheet)? I think this would look really cool and a little different. or print onto transparent film, then the user can use his/her own coloured background...

Just a thought

- John

P.S. Those circles are present on the original poster - think it was a 20th anniversary edition poster?

I'm sure this has been asked before, I must have missed it if it has. Did Ady mention the level of compression the dvd-5 will have vs the dvd-9?

Maybe I have a special printer... but mine doesn't print white

No no, you don't want it to print white, you want it to print transparent. You can get the transparent ink cartridges at Staples, I'm pretty sure.

Eh? Printers don't print white: so white areas'll be transparent...

I think he was being sarcastic.
I wish I had a Kryptonite cross, because then you could keep both Dracula AND Superman away.

Haha, well, that's what I thought at first, but transparent ink does exist (but then all colors would be transparent), so I started doubting.
I must say that's what I hate about the internet the most: you just can't detect sarcasm

Can't wait to finally see revisited, but I also can't wait to see the painting Adywan's planning on making...
I do wish he didn't release this during my exams though, I keep on checking the forums while I should be studying

I asked ADY that a while back but not exactly reffering to DVD-5 vs. the DVD-9. All he said was that he was using mpeg2 compression. Mabe he using dvd shrink for the DVD-5.

From what I understand Ady is doing separate encodes for the SL and DL versions. Each encode will be optimized for the space allowed on each disc. They will be mpeg2 with variable bit rates.

Hm, I got messages back to 2 weeks ago from ABSW, but the only usenet tool I've got is... Pine :/

Anyone know any good tools for handling the binary usenet here on Linux so I can start sucking down the filez when they go up? xD

For a GUI client I use pan.
When I'm logged in remotely, nzbget in text mode works a treat.

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

I figure, if I can use Verizon's newsfeed to get it, why pay? (I already pay out the neck for my access)
