The Dark Knight (Batman Begins Returns Again) — Page 8

Not only is he in the movie, but his role was super secret for a very long time. Many speculated he would be playing the future Riddler, but nothing was ever confirmed. From the latest semi-confirmed rumors, we now know his character's name is Mike Engel. He's a reporter who finds out Batman's secret identity and apparently tries to get it into the paper. He idolizes Bruce Wayne and owns a Lamborghini just like Wayne (the source wonders how the hell he could afford one on a reporters salary, so is speculative).

Strange name "Engel." You can manage to get the anagram "enigma" out of the full name name "Michael Engel" and end up with a lot of extra letters, so I guess this isn't one of those fun movie puzzles. But with how super secret his character name was kept for so long it's like...what the hell? Who is he really supposed to be?

Hmm, interesting. The idolizing of Bruce Wayne and subsequent evil use of his secret identity seems similar to the role The Riddler played in Batman Forever. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what the mystery is here.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

who gives a shit only the first 2 terminator films are canon because they are from james cameron. the other shit is just fan fiction even if arnold was involved with it like t3.

sadly we will never get to see cameron's version of t3.

about as bad as x-men 3 not being from brian singer, and that hack brett ratner ruined it.

Totally agree.

I'm still optimistic about a Scott/Cameron partnership that erases Alien 3 and 4. AvP is set in the present day, right? Meaning Alien 5 could happen in spite of AvP, right? (I haven't seen AvP-R yet.)

THERE'S MORE TO IT THAN THAT. I GOES BACK TO THE MOVIE STUDIO. THE STUDIO WANTED CAMERON AND COMPANY TO WAIT TO START PRODUCTION UNTIL AFTER AvP HAD BEEN RELEASED. CAMERON BASICALLY SAID THAT IT'S NOW OR NEVER. SO, THE STUDIO OPTED FOR NEVER AND AvP.

Well that all comes down to alti-verses. AvP is an alti-verse isn't it? All the comic 'versus' crossovers usually happen outside both sides' normal canons.

I think it is more capitalism than it is an alti-verse.

As for Cameron/Scott partnership erasing Aliens 3 and 4, please elaborate on this more ADM. I have not heard anything about it.

I kind of like Alien 3 now, but that is after having years of it growing on me. When I first saw it I was very disappointed at the treatment of these characters that we had invested so much interest in during Aliens only to have them die off screen in the credit sequence of Alien 3. Cheap cop out. But in the end I thought the prison was not a half bad setting for an alien rampage. Alien Resurrection on the other had is one big WTF experience. How that movie ever got green lit is beyond me.

Well if nothing else, maybe we'll at least get back on topic. I'd heard he tried to kill himself a couple years ago, didn't think he'd finish the job, at least not now of all times. Terry Gilliam was apparently un-stoked because they just started on The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, and were only a few weeks into production.

Now I know for sure I'll be camping outside of Imax at least 2 or 3 weeks before the film opens.

Not to be heartless or anything, but I wonder if the Joker is set to be killed off in The Dark Knight or I wonder if they planned on drawing him out into a part 3 or maybe jailed until part 4?

yeah well I hear that he's meant to be locked up and in sequels have a starring role, but now that Heath left the world of the living, the only thing left is to recast the Joker... which I think is cheesy, personally. Hopefully there won't be a joker in the third film then.

If that was the case, I guess they could re-film a sequence where he dies instead.

Great. It is The Crow all over again.

Well, it wouldn't surprise me, at any rate.

Yeah, but at least this one would be worth watching.

Reusing villians in comic films is a bad idea anyway. Just look how old the Green Goblin in the Spidey films, by the time Harry died in Spidey 3 we were all thinking "it is about time".

This is kind of a cold conversation to be having within hours of the guy having died. Obviously he wont be returning for the Joker, whether that was the original intention or not doesn't really matter. This is going to put a bit of a damper on the release of this film. Wow, it is odd to think over the past few months we have all been discussing whether or not he was the right man for the role, and whether or not he would do a good job, who would have thought he would be dead before the film ever even hit theaters.

Not exactly. The Dark Knight was finished filming. With The Crow, the actor (can't remember his name) died during filming.

I agree with ferris. I see no reason why they can't film a scene with him dying instead. You wouldn't even have to show him dying either. Just have a building that he's in get blown up. Maybe even drag out a charred burned body that's identified as Joker.
