It's still available on a.b.sw with a premium provider. With giganews' 200 day retention, it should be available through January before a repost is necessary. I just looked on myspleen and there are 3 seeders with no leechers, so you should have no problem there. If I see there are leechers, I'll jump on and seed...

Thanks for the reply. I'm on uTorrent now trying to get it. It says that there are 3 seeds but it isn't downloading. I've tried some other things and that stuff worked fine so I don't know what is up.

Haven't started ROTJ yet. I honestly don't know when I'll be able to, either. Don't worry, I definitely want to finish the trilogy and plan on doing it eventually. It would be great if I could get started sometime this year.

On another note, I actually listened to TSOROTJ a while back and was pretty disappointed with the quality of production. It was produced by a completely different team than SW and Empire and it shows. The narrator is WAY over the top, narration is in past tense, and seems to be aimed a little more to the kiddy audience than the first two albums. We'll have to see if I can work it into an edit worth watching. I'll keep everyone posted...

(I err'd, ignore post, wrong recreation...)
Since the RotJ was done over a decade later (1996), and doesn't have the same vibe, how about a Special Edition of the two you've done instead? Redo the whole package in HD with subtitle trivia and video inserts of the actual recording sessions. http://swccmty.page.tl/Los-Radio-Dramas.htm
...maybe for the Radio Drama's 30th anniversary in 2011?

We're not talking about the Radio Drama's here. The story of Jedi was done in 83 along with the rest.

digitalfreak is correct.

As for doing any sort of HD SE version, I'm not really set up with stout enough hardware for HD editing.. Yet.

What the radio drama and vinyl story of Jedi do have in common is that they are of inferior quality to their respective predecessors... kind of like Jedi itself...

Agreed. When I first heard of the radio drama of Jedi I was very excited. Then I heard it. It seemed to be nothing more than a blow by blow of the original movie. No great love seemed to be put into the radio drama or the "story of".

To be fair, Brian Daley wrote the ROTJ Radio Drama while suffering from cancer, and I believe he passed away shortly after it was released. I'm sure had he been in much better health, the end product would have been a much better and more satisfying experience.

I LOVE that narrator! Over the top? Absolutely! We used to imagine that he was rapidly chain-smoking as he read his script. It was a sad day when I realized I left my tape of TSOROTJ at a hotel, and there was no retrieving it.

I'm looking forward to this one more than the others.

As stated on the first post of this thread, available on alt.binaries.starwars, myspleen.net (still being seeded), and rapidshare (fanedit.org)... PM's are also a good way to ask someone if they'd be interested in sending you copies (hint, hint...)

I'm not usually such a dumb-ass noob, but there's gotta be an easier way to get the audio files only of the Story of.... trilogy?

Newsgroups in 3 minutes:

1. Get Grabit @ www.shemes.com (and install it)
2. Get a Usenet provider (www.astraweb.com)
3. Start Grabit and download

Every GOOD Usenet-Provider will provide you with the needed info to configure Grabit (or Newsleech, ect, ect). This is the best and fastest way to download almost all content spoken about on this forum.

hey movealong...

awesome job on both ANH and ESB....

i never heard the vinyl versions before,
so watching both of them in order was amazing...

i don't have the technical skills yet...but i have time/resources..

in the next week, i'll have all 3 originals with books/vinyl..

i have ability to digitize/clean up vinyl..

i have a laserdisc player/dvd player/computer...
with access to video capture..

so i can do: capture from 'definitine box set', and 'faces THX' set..

now, i'm not going to try to match your production qualities or
anything like that......but i do plan to play around with it to
get an idea of how to work with the material.

you might be taking a break now, but i've got plenty of time/effort
on my hands now..........

keep up the amazing work......i'll be playing around with the material
very shortly..

Is there a story of return of the jedi dvd in the works?

If not where can i download the audio restoration by scottyballs?

I am sure you are real busy and all but any help would be appreciated.

Thanks MoveAlong.

I loved the color correcting you did on the 2004 footage must have been a hell of a lot of work.

I plan on doing Jedi eventually. I need to complete Galactus' Bounty Hunter 2 before starting anything else. Life is not really allowing me to work on projects right now. I'd like to get Bounty Hunter 2 done this year and probably start on Jedi in '09. I think Scotty Balls' Story Of Jedi is on Usenet. Although, I haven't checked in a while. As for the color correction, I appreciate the compliments. I ended up coming up with 5 or 6 different settings and used them throughout, like reducing the blue on Hoth (couldn't get rid of it completely, unfortunately!), getting rid of the red on Bespin, etc...

well, along with everyone else, I can only add my congratulations for this fine and perfectly executed project- i am in totally in awe!

i am a newbie to this forum and kind of stumbled across it. like many of you, I grew up with the records of SOSW and SOETB and knew them word for word- in the case of Star Wars, it was the only way I knew the film (along with Storybooks etc) as I was too young when the movie was released, and had to wait until '82 when it was premiered on TV (complete with adverts every 20 mins!).

A couple of weeks ago, I dug the LPs out (I couldn't ever bear to part with them) and I was going to transfer them onto CD and clean them up, but I thought I might just check the web first to see if anyone had already done it and save me the work. Of course they had, after finding several audio versions, it was then that, ahem, to paraphrase, "that's how I came to be in your service, if you take my meaning"...

Having the LPs, (this being before the days of video) I was the envy of all my school mates; but if only we could have dreamt of something like this! Great touch with adding the read along book on ESB- being an avid collector from an early age, I had those too, and still have the books (although the tapes have long gone). Things have come full circle; like someone else on this forum, my little 3 year old girl is getting into SW (again, because of the Princess), and we sat and read along with my original book to the audio on Movealong's DVD! Fantastic!

can't wait for SOROTJ- I never got hold of it over here in the UK, but recently found the audio on the web and had a listen. like other's have said, the narration is more than a bit cheesy and aimed at a yunger audience, so definitely not in the same class of Roscoe or Malachi, but it's great fun all the same.

one last point- anyone looking to do the same for the Raiders and Indy Temple of Doom story LPs? again, I grew up with these and they'll be indelibly imprinted forever in the memory! The Raiders LP was a little different as it had no narration, and it even won a Grammy for best Spoken word record at the time. Interestingly, the Indy LP sounds like it has the same narrator as ROTJ (Chuck Riley). would love to hear if anything like this is planned
