Hey Ady... just curious on the specs for the xvid. What will the fps, resolution, and encode rate be?

Not sure on the specs apart from it will be 25fps because it will be taken from the PAL DVD which will be finished first

I can't help with PIF chains, unfortunately, but if a torrent ends up on the internet, I'd be more than willing to keep it seeded.

Ady,
I'm working on the blurb for the back of the cover. Does this sound ok?

"Star Wars: Revisited represents perhaps the boldest and most sophisticated of any of the fan edits of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. Inspired by the Star Wars Trilogy Special Edition, fan editor Adywan has created a breathtaking and powerful version of the film. Star Wars: Revisited not only fixes errors and technical limitations to the film that should have been made in the first Special Edition, but gives us a whole new vision for the movie, tying it to the rest of the Star Wars saga while correcting many of the excesses of the original Special Edition. Shots are re-mastered and restored, special effect shots are re-composited and whole new sequences are created, giving the viewer a taste of what the Special Edition could have been. Accompanied by a new Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack, Star Wars: Revisited provides an exciting new visit to a galaxy far, far away."

I'd also like to get this via torrent. It would make it easier for me to both obtain and distribute, plus it would allow me to get the DVD9 version for when I eventually can burn dual layer discs (and in the meantime I could just compress it myself for use on single layer discs).

Does anyone know what's involved in creating a torrent? I'd even be happy to do that provided I'm given instructions.

I know you specifically asked Adywan for his feedback, but may I offer one suggestion?

"...while correcting much of the excesses of the original Special Edition."

"Much" isn't quite correct... "many" would be a better choice. (Or "most" but I like "many" better.) You generally wouldn't use "much" to describe a countable quantity. "Much of what I wear is black, but many of my socks are white."

Just my two cents. The rest of it sounds great.

Thanks Ron! I'll make a note of that.

You sounded like me, ron2112. I drive my wife crazy talking like that, being the grammar and spelling Nazi that I am.
(It also takes me twice as long to post in a forum as it should because I keep starting over to reword everything until I feel it's just right.)

Well, Adywan, this is just too exciting!
I haven’t had consistent internet access for a few months now, but I’ve always found a way to keep up on this project.

This idea has gone far beyond what I even *thought* I wanted from Lucas!

Can’t wait to get a hold of this edition!

I think what has made this thread so much fun is throwing out ideas and questions...learning more about a movie I love…having conversations with others and getting feedback on ideas. I have enjoyed the whole process (of course, YOU had the hard part).

I’m looking forward to ESB…I have a few ideas…but it’s ROTJ I’m really looking forward to discussing! I have quite a few ideas for that movie!

We're finally coming to the end and I can't wait for Ady to be able to sit back and rest a while. You earned it, man!

Sluggo,

Great blurb! I'm wondering if these could perhaps be made less specific to cut down wording a smidgen...

"...that should have been made in the first Special Edition, but gives us a whole new vision for the movie, tying it to the rest of the Star Wars saga while correcting many of the excesses of the original Special Edition."

Do the improvements not apply to both/all the special editions of SW:ANH and not just the "first," "original" special edition? Just a thought that popped into my head while reading it. If too nitpicky then just ignore me here. Again, great blurb!

Any word on how much more work has been done on this?

Also, congrats on being just about done Ady!

I haven't done that much work actually. When I posted that, I thought I was kinda done (already sent it to ady and such). I fixed the error of it saying Ep VI though, I also edited the description a bit (though I guess that doesn't matter because no one could read it to begin with). I guess I'll go over your previous suggestions though (I didn't have time before, sorry). Any additional suggestions?

Is there anyone in America that plans on burning copies of this. If there is someone let me know who you are. I greatly appreciate it.

I'll be PIF'ing NTSC in US once I have a copy - a least a bunch at the beginning.

I'm hoping someone will also get an NTSC copy up on Rapidshare

Good to see we have a few Americans who will be distributing. I cannot thank enough which ever one of you sends me a copy. If anyone is from the mid west( Chicago area) that would be great.

I, too, am prepared to PIF this sucker all across the US. It's the least I can do in tribute to Adywan's tireless work.

I can spread it through Germany and Austria. I'm in the entertainment business (music) and I know lots of people with DVD burners

Adywan, though I haven't seen the edit yet and suppressed the urge to watch (most of) the previews, I want to thank you for all the work you put into this project. I believe your version may actually let us relive the magic once again!
