Remember when he said we should be in Iraq for 100 years? He said he still wishes we were still in Vietnam, yeah I wish he was still in Vietnam too.
That's pretty cold sean. If you don't like his politics, that's fine by me, but wishing that someone be a POW is uncalled for.
Second, that's nice spin sean. Here's the actual quote:
Q: President Bush has talked about our staying in Iraq for 50 years -- " (cut off by McCain)
McCain: "Make it a hundred."
Q: "Is that ..." (cut off)
McCain: "We've been in South Korea ... we've been in Japan for 60 years. We've been in South Korea 50 years or so. That would be fine with me. As long as Americans ..."
Q: [tries to say something]
McCain: "
As long as Americans are not being injured or harmed or wounded or killed. That's fine with me, I hope that would be fine with you, if we maintain a presence in a very volatile part of the world where Al Queada is training and equipping and recruiting and motivating people every single day.
Notice what he said about Japan and Korea. We've had troopes in South Korea for 50 years. The Korean War never ended, we've just been in a stalemate for that long. If we needed troops in Iraq for a "stalemate" for 100 years, with no one fighting or dying on either side, I think most Americans would not only be ok with that, but they wouldn't even notice. Have you noticed the troops in South Korea that have been there for that long? I know about them, but you never hear about it on the news because it isn't news.
