I can't say I'm happy with the results so far. But I am surprised at John McCain winning the Republican side. What are your thoughts? Predictions?

If people thought Reagan was too old for the job ... McCain?!?!? Not to mention, my opinion hasn't changed in eight years that he's somebody whose finger should be nowhere near The Button.

Remember when he said we should be in Iraq for 100 years? He said he still wishes we were still in Vietnam, yeah I wish he was still in Vietnam too.

I'd rather have this ticket than Obama-vs-Huckabee.

I'm not a huge fan of McCain, but he's better than the Huckster. And, well, Clinton would likely be flat out easier to defeat in the general election than Obama.

That's pretty cold sean. If you don't like his politics, that's fine by me, but wishing that someone be a POW is uncalled for.

Second, that's nice spin sean. Here's the actual quote:

Q: President Bush has talked about our staying in Iraq for 50 years -- " (cut off by McCain)

McCain: "Make it a hundred."

Q: "Is that ..." (cut off)

McCain: "We've been in South Korea ... we've been in Japan for 60 years. We've been in South Korea 50 years or so. That would be fine with me. As long as Americans ..."

Q: [tries to say something]

McCain: "As long as Americans are not being injured or harmed or wounded or killed. That's fine with me, I hope that would be fine with you, if we maintain a presence in a very volatile part of the world where Al Queada is training and equipping and recruiting and motivating people every single day.

Notice what he said about Japan and Korea. We've had troopes in South Korea for 50 years. The Korean War never ended, we've just been in a stalemate for that long. If we needed troops in Iraq for a "stalemate" for 100 years, with no one fighting or dying on either side, I think most Americans would not only be ok with that, but they wouldn't even notice. Have you noticed the troops in South Korea that have been there for that long? I know about them, but you never hear about it on the news because it isn't news.

Why thank you for correcting me. My cousin is in Japan and that is also funny because he is also Korean.

I was watching the news with a friend and he said he thinks Obama will be assasinated before he can become President. Anyone have an opinion on that?

Having spent a long time with some very bigoted Americans it's definitely a possibility in my opinion. I know you're not all like that by a long shot, but there's definitely a good number of backwards thinking morons with guns running around in that part of the World.

Well it's certainly possible. It's also possible that aliens will come and use laser beams on the white house and make the Secretary of Agriculture president. But I don't think it's possible enough to warrant worry. Obama undoubtedly has at least as much security protection as any other of the presidential candidates.

Things are not quite what they seem. The number of delegates is dependent on the "winner take all" vs. the "apportioned delegates" which varies from state to state. Screw what the pundits, OP-ED pieces and polls say. Two of the most important bookmarks you can make right now are:

Democratic scorecard
Republican scorecard

Interesting that Romney is in the lead, with three times what McCain boasts and almost twice what Huckabee boasts. People say that the demise of the electoral college would equal the demise of campaigning in the small states, but I assert that this has already happened anyway, with Giuliani's "Big State" strategy. You don't hear about those small states on the news, or that Romney currently holds the lead by a comfortable margin. What you hear is that he's a two-time loser. Bollocks.

HaHa.. fair point. But I would suggest that the assasination of a man who is potentially on the road to becoming the first ever black President of the USA is slightly more likely than the alien scenario.

I have no idea what C3PX meant by his 'No more fuckin immigrant no matter where they come from' comment.

Just felt very flattered by your opinions on my fellow countrymen, or should I say my fellow backward thinking morons running around with guns. I forgot that you said you spent most of your time in L.A. (am I right on that?) so I guess in that case I should cut you a lot of slack for that comment, L.A. is a pretty screwed up place. I am just kind of sick of people coming to visit America, then going nowhere but to places like L.A. and New York which are extremely small samples of the overall U.S. population, then going home and saying how awful Americans are. Most Americans that I know who spend just a little time in L.A. tend to loose their faith in humanity for a while. I don't think there are as many backward thinking morons that own guns in our country as you might think. Or are they backward thinking to you simply because they are the type of people who would own guns?

As for the possibility of Obama being assassinated, I really don't think that is as big of a risk as you might think. And I am not sure how much on the road to being the first ever black President Obama really is, I think there are still enough prejudice people out there that he doesn't have too much of a chance(though I wish I were wrong on that). In recent years we've had black people in pretty high positions of power, and nothing has happened to them yet, I don't see why a guy merely running for President should be any different. I'd think guys like Sharpton and Jackson would be higher potential targets for a backward thinking racist gun owner. Though I do think Obama stands a far better chance of being elected President than Hilary does.

Actually, I spent a number of months, which is more than I would wish on anybody, in North Dakota, and I have also travelled to every corner of the USA over the past 5 years or so. In fact, I'm pretty sure I have visited (and by visited I don't just mean passed through) more parts of the States than most people, including actual Americans. However, you obviously missed the part of my post that said:

I have met many, many Americans with many different attitudes, both good and bad and would never tar everybody in such a large country with a single brush and I think if you take the time to re-read my original post you will see that that is not what I did. But don't try telling me there isn't a large ignorant and racist contingency in the USA, because I have met them first hand. And yes, there are people like that everywhere (there are certainly people like that in the UK) but I think my comment is still a fair one.

As for Obama getting assasinated, I hadn't even considered it until my friend raised the idea, at which point I recalled some of the things I had seen and heard in places like North Dakota and thought to myself 'hmmm...that could happen'. I doubt it will, and even if someone tried I'm sure he has shit-hot security surrounding him 24/7. But you raise another good point - there's no real need to kill him because there's enough prejudice still around to stop him becoming President simply by voting.

And for the record, I quite like L.A.

War does not make one great.

Apparently you don't understand the philosophy behind it.

He wasn't implying that we should remain in a violent conflict in Iraq for that period of time.

Do you know we're still in Japan and Germany?

We're still in Korea as well.

You should leave your high school understanding of politics at home.
