Yeah, I know it isn't that bad, but I would be one of those assholes who complain about steam. For me it really isn't a matter of complaining about everything, but really just the principal of the matter. I'd like to think that someday I could play all my games that I spent my money on with my computer without having to worry about being connected to the internet. What happens if Valve goes bottom up? Or if there is a great worldwide economic collapse and the internet becomes a thing of the past? Or if some strange ancient germ renders the entire population (including Valve's IT guys) into blood thirsty vampires with myself as the sole survivor living in my own fortified honky paradise and I get tired of playing chess against a granite bust and decide to play some Half-Life 2...
Or perhaps I just want to be able to play my games without having to go online and varify the validity of my honestly purchased product while the guy who pirates it gets to play it internet free.

Hmm, I can't help you with that last part (about the Vampires

The guy who pirates it gets to play it Internet free, but he doesn't get any updates. I don't know if that means much to you, but it means something to me. I would say Valve has the best anti-pirating system right now. Compare Steam to 2k Games Bioshock activation or COD4 PunkBuster crap. Steam and VAC are a much better system that give far fewer headaches.
