I did that shit.... and driving around in the crazy buggy only to have the fucking Travelocity gnome go flying out anytime you turn the slightest amount was just great. Drive for about 20 feet. Get out, put the gnome back in. Drive 20 feet, and watch the gnome go flying once again.

Great.

Um, you do know that you can "punt" the gnome several hundred feet at a time with the grav gun, right? Most people that attempt that achievement do it that way. You save game, punt the gnome a fair distance, then drive up and grab him. The only place this gets difficult is when the helicopter is chasing you toward the rebel hideout. In that area, you absolutely must leave Alyx and the car behind, punt the gnome, and save often. If you go to far, you lose for leaving Alyx behind. Once you've gone a fair distance, you go back for Alyx and the car.

Wash, rinse, repeat. If it was easy to do, it wouldn't be an "Achievement". Note, that I haven't done it yet, but everyone on the steam forums will tell you that what I said is how you can do it. Just make sure you're logged into the Steam community beforehand, otherwise all your effort will be wasted.

Okay. So I freely admit to being an HD newbie. We got a widescreen HD-TV, rear projection, for Christmas. I'm trying to test out my X-Box 360 with the HD component cables, but 1080p and 720p both fail to work right. My options are 1080i and 480p. I was wondering if someone who knows a bit more about these resolutions knows which would be better for basic gaming display.

1080i should be fine and unless you're a videophile or you see a fast action sequence, you probably won't notice the interlacing. You're better off using a DVI cable or an HDMI cable though. Do the titles you're playing support 1080p? I'm not sure why 720p would fail unless the titles aren't even in that resolution. How big is the screen?
