I got a ton of Wii games for Christmas, including Super Mario Galaxy, but I haven't started playing it yet. I like playing things one at a time usually, so it might be a while before I get to my other new games.

But I did have a thought that kinda creeped me out a bit. Super Mario 64 is eleven years old now. That means it's 11 years older than Super Mario Galaxy. Well, Super Mario 64 is also eleven years older than Super Mario Bros. There has been as much time in between the original Super Mario Bros. and the game that brought the series into 3-D as there is between that game and the latest game in the series. For some reason, that makes me raise an eyebrow.

That's a pretty interesting observation - it was a huge leap from SMB1 to SM64, but not quite as far from SM64 to SMG.
Think about this, though - there's only been eight "main" Mario games for Nintendo's core systems over the years:
- Super Mario Bros.
- Super Mario Bros. 2
- Super Mario Bros. 3
- Super Mario World
- Super Mario World 2 - Yoshi's Island
- Super Mario 64
- Super Mario Sunshine
- Super Mario Galaxy
I don't know if you guys would be interested, but I am working on my own Mario game right now that is a mod of the original Super Mario World. You can check out my project here.
EDIT: The moderators over at the SMWCentral site are goofing around right now, so my link is effectively dead. Check back later!
